Are these kits still available or plans or short kits? I tried the email shown in the Brodak #15 cat. and my attempt was bounced back to me. These were four really nice looking kits. I really liked the China Clipper and the Sky Writer.

AFAIK, Steve is still a member here. I will look, myself, soon, but a look through the membership list should provide accurate contact information. The list is generally in alphabetical order, but can be altered to you wishes with the click of a button.

Hi Gordon,
Did you use this email??

I have an unbuilt China Clipper kit (which I intend to keep) that I got a few months ago. The problem is that Kyle Tankersley, who cuts the kits for Steve, has apparently given up the business and Steve is without a cutter. Mine is very high quality and if you can get a kit, go for it. Steve has plans, as does Claus Maikis (China Clipper designer). If all else fails I can make you a copy of the CC plans.

Bill, I used the email address that is listed in Brodak #15 catalogue. I am buying the kit(China Clipper) from eliott. There are others such as the Sky Writer that I really like also. I will try to email Steve at the address you gave here Bill, thanks. Now I need to decide which engine to power it with. I have a double star lite ring that is needing some exercise, or maybe put together a Vcase ST 60 using the Brian Gardner ABC P/L set I have been saving.

Steve's work was all done by Kyle and on the U-2 that I bought, it is outstanding.
If Kyle's email is still working, talk to him about current stock. There was some at Kyle's when I last spoke to him a couple of months ago.
Good luck, Geoff

Hi Gordon,
I would say that either of those engine would be a good choice from what I remember about those planes. The choices could be dependent on the balance you anticipate. With the weight difference that might be the sole deciding factor. I am pretty sure the ST is *stronger*, but I don't think the DS would suffer at all.
Geez. not sure I made a LOT of sense there........... LL~ (I think you know what I mean! LL~ LL~ )

Hi Geoff!
How's it going??
As to Kyle, I know he announced that he was stopping since he was using Riley for his wood and it was local, AFAIK. BUT! I believe, (will have to check!) that he will cut if you supply the wood. I'm about 100% positive he has not gotten rid of his laser cutter. It would be worth a check.
We also have Laser Works in the Vendor's corner. Eddie is absolutely great, too, with his cutting and service! I say he's right up there with Kyle. Eric Rule at RSM cuts special projects, and Pat Johnston/Dee Rice are beginning in the business. What they are offering is also outstanding! It is also my understanding that Brodak will laser cut?? I am not 100% sure on that one.
One thing is positive, I know I will NEVER stack cut a set of "C" or "D" tube ribs, ever again!
(The only difference I have seen is that Kyle was 40%-50% less expensive than the others last time I was dealing with him.)

If you check out Kyle's site this is what he says.
Quote
"Due to lack of reasonable wood stock prices I have quit laser cutting custom work airframes from balsa and ply. I anticipate getting back into it in a few years from now. I will cut replacement parts for existing customers, cut or re-cut kits of existing artwork on file, but will not be taking on new design or drawing projects without a guarantee of at least 25 kits to be made and stock to be supplied. Ask for details.
I am offering Rabe Control line model kit cutting and parts, but stock will need to be supplied. Ask for details. "
So basically it is a "You want it you supply the wood" situation as for Steve Hand/ Exemplary stunt planes you will have to contact Steve him self for any more details.
I have a "Skywriter" kit and it is first rate.
