As has been reported in another thread, Steve Buso is flying again. Here is his official flight in some bad winds at the Lee contest flying his own design Bobcat. This plane was gorgeous, and had the pleasure of talking with Steve during the day, and showed him how I'm planning to paint my new plane and got his approval!
Here is his flight:

Absolutely fantastic. Now all we need, is Les McDonald to pick up the handle.

Well Matt since you have let the cat out of the bag (LOL) guess I will fess up. I have talked several times to Steve about his Bobcat and the pictures I am posting are hard copies he sent me by mail.. Steve is just one super nice guy and when I kitted his Jaguar, I got to know him as we spent a lot of time on the phone. He is also coming out with the HERCULES...I think he is working on it now. The Canopy came from Germany. OH..he also told me he designed this plane specifically for a FOX 35. I have the plans on my workbench and will be building it after i recover from my knee surgery....
Anyway,,here are the pictures of the Bobcat Steve sent me.

I was talking with Steve and he said he was going to be building a bigger one, I guess that could be the Hercules. And normally, I don't care for tall canopies, but this is gorgeous, even with that tall a canopy.
I got the plans from the raffle at the end of the contest, and got a good look at them tonight. Might make for a nice project while I'm at College y1

I think a PA 65 will work great in this size plane ;D
Actually the plane doesn't even have 500 square inches of wing area. I think it was 491 if I remember the plans correctly

I'm glad I decided not to post the Merlin 75 suggestion. LL~

Matt I hope to get started on mine when I am able to after my knee replacement. I am going to carve a plug for the canopy. This is a sharp looking little plane...I will put a FOX35 in mine...

It has lines reminiscent of Eastern European stunt ships. It’s got that KA-10 vibe going for it. Should scale up nicely. Aero Tiger 36 looks like a shoe-in for this.

That was my first thought too.

We also have the plans to his Jaguar, Lite Wave, and have the Stunt News article to his Vegas. I think it's impossible for him to design a bad looking airplane

Ive sent Steve a lot of parts for getting back into the plane, maybe I could suggest to him a Piped FOX 35 ;D ;D
-
I thought KA8 or KA10 when I saw it too. Forgot that I had an Aerotiger .36 that would be a good one too. It is just a good looking design all the way around.

"even with that tall a canopy"
Hi Matt,
I regularly fly both the full-scale biplanes (Pitts S-2B) & the Extra 300L. These airplanes have canopies that are proportionally very similar to Steve Buso's new ship shown above, so to me the canopy looks very much in proportion. I guess it's just all in what you get used to seeing.
Much success in your upcoming college year!

Thanks Bill!!
I guess you're right. I'm more used to the low slung canopies like a TP or Windy's Testarossa, Novanta, Tribute etc.
-
I'm liking a RE engine for this, Enya 32 or Stalker 40. I like the lines too.
-
I am really glad to hear that Steve is back at it. He has always designed pretty planes. Sounds like he's in good health and I look forward to seeing him again! The last time was the 1993 NATS.............

I have the Vegas plans. Would it be possible to get a copy of the Stunt News article scan sent to me as an email attachment?
Thanks

Hi Joshua,
I'll see what I can do. Hopefully I'll have it done for you by the end of the week.
-
Is that a foam or built up wing?
-
It is sooooo good to see Steve back at it. It was not entirely clear, is the "Bob Cat" the Fox .35 powered ship.
Steve has a keen and artistic eye for the lines of an airplane. They always present well. The paint scheme on the "Bob Cat" is stunning.
Matt, can you please email Steve's phone number to me. I haven't talk to him in a long time.
-
Steve's Bobcat has foam wings cut by John Duncan. Mike Ostella flew an earlier version of the Bobcat a few years back with a Thunder Tiger 36, was an excellent performer! ALL of Steve's designs are outstanding "lookers" and very potent stunt ships!
-
How can I get a set of plans for the Bobcat (Iguess thet is the one for the Fox-35)I

Steve's plans are all a work of a true artist. I am sure that you could get them from Steve. Someone should be able to give you details.
-
Thanks Tom---- I sure hope so.

AAAAAHHH! A modern designed plane for a Fox 35. Now that I like. And a beautiful one at that. I know most will put some fire breathing monster in there, but if I build one it will have a Fox 35 as designed. That is just so cool. I may not even use a muffler.
-
Steve has plans for both a built up wing and a foam wing. I am building the builit up wing version as I don't care for foam wings but he shows both. The plans are a work of art I assure you.

Not to steal Steve's thunder (I have plans for most of his designs) but Alan Brickhaus also recently designed a stunter specifically for the Fox 35 - the "Scepter 500" in November 2010 Flying Models Magazine. Worth a look. 8)

Your darn tooten!!! LL~

Yep, a beautiful design. I love the canopy and paint scheme.
I'd love to purchase a set of plans for this stunter and YES, I will put a fox 35 in it!! S?P
