Title: Sterling kits ...
Post by: Pepper Kay on July 10, 2006, 02:54:32 PM
Hi All:

Does anyone have a line on any of the old Sterling warbird kits other than the P-38 ?? ... I had several, now long gone, and would like to build and fly one again ...

Also, am interested in a Nobler - not the ARF version I see now ...

Thanbks,

Pepper

I'm not sure about the Sterling kits. The ones I had used mild steel instead of balsa.  %^

The Nobler kit is still alive and well. If you wish to build the "original" version, get the Brodak kit. If you wish to build the 1957 TF Green Box version, then get the RSM kit. Both of these kits are well done, with better wood than in the original kits. I've got both and think they are excellent.

If foam wings are your thing, Tom Dixon cuts Nobler foam cores, too.

Hope this helps.

Ron

RSM also has a fine Ringmaster kit.

The old Yak9 and Mustang are scheduled for re release by Brodak in the near future. Perhaps he'll also re issue the Thunderstreak. The Sterling Navion is available from Dare Distributing, Many of the plans have been saved and full size parts have been plotted for the less then complete plans in many Sterling kits.
I'm sure that others will have other sources for kits and plans.
