I guess i got the bug again, this is a Charles Mackey lark.

Is it too late to change it to the open cockpit design, per Mr. Mackey's original? H^^ Steve
-
No it's not to late to change but Charles gave me a lock of his hair to put on the pilot, that way a piece of him will be on board
forever, so i don't want it flapping in the breeze.

Bill,
If you find out what causes that lack of motivation I would be greatly grateful to know what it is. It's been affecting me for some time now! I go out to the shop, look around at all the unfinished projects and start feeling TIRED immediately!
Nothing seems to motivate me much anymore!

Let me in on that lack of motivation issue, seems to be going around.
All weekend just needed to glue in a cowl mount, drill a few holes then monokote the cowl. Managed to look at it a few times. Thats about it. Blaaaah

My poodle Sandy has been getting onto me for not going to the shop. Also I tell my self I need to be ready for the unusual day when there is very little wind and temps are in the 60's. D>K

This time of year the only time that occurs is when your wife has you assigned to the "Honey Do" list. y1

As far the lack of motivation for me was, I had let my shop get pretty messy. So I spent two
days cleaning and organizing, now I want to spend time in the shop.

I know what you mean Moe, my garage gets so out of hand, that I don’t even want to go out there.
A friend of mine is letting me store the new motor and trans for the el Camino at his shop. I got rid of the engine stand since this will be the last car I build.
A neighbor is using my engine hoist with the understanding that he keeps it until I’m ready to put the motor in the el Camino. This has freeded up a lot of space so I can actually get some work done.
It’s amazing how cluttered and disorganized a shop can get when you are busy and focused on a project.
I’ll keep sending you pictures as the project moves along.

I wish I had a answer for you and Kevin. I do the same thing in my shop, look around and end up just sitting there. When I first retired I was gung-ho and finished a few that had been sitting for several years as I was on the road so much of the time it was hard to finish anything. Now I'm in a stall mode. What I really need to do is fly some of these finished planes. I think that that in its self would probably motivate me. And its not like I haven't been invited to join Warren and a few others flying because I have. I just haven't done it.

I don't know if it'll work for you, but when I get in that state I pick one, grit my teeth, and finish it off. Then repeat until I find more enthusiasm, or burn my shop down!

Please what are you building the wing on?

Please what are you building the wing on?
It’s the same thing Warren builds all his wings on: A workbench...
...you can just barely see it underneath that long skinny massive piece of re-purposed industrial granite from some defunct but extremely FLAT QA measuring table somewhere. You can superglue little pieces of wood to it, to keep your large parts aligned. Then when you’re done with the alignment blocks just scrape them off with a chisel or single edge razor blade or whatever. It’s like they were never enen there. I have a granite block for holding wet-or-dry sandpaper while sharpening dull things. But it’s only 18” long so I can never build anything bigger than 1/2A.
Warren has all the coolest stuff.

Paul is correct it is a slab of3" x 72" granite, it came from one of my old customers ou
They built and rebuilt printed circuit board machines. The machines are built on granite for stability, I have four or five in different sizes. Please what are you building the wing on?

Warren appears to be on his own power-building program. For the rest of us, we should at least adhere to Purple Plan One.

Bill Winter dreamed it up. He covered all the nuances of how to trick yourself into building and enjoying it--even if you didn't feel like it--in his rambling, stream of consciousness editorials. Reading about it was fun, but to sum it all up, essentially it had one rule--do at least one thing on your project every day.
You can read all of Bill's homegrown psychiatry, but for me it turns out to be pretty simple. If I don't feel like it, I do one thing and then go do grumpy things that do not involve modeling. But, the usual case is that if I go out to the shop and do one thing, I find myself doing 3 or 4, and then kind of getting into it. And feeling better. But since I did at least my one thing, I can quit at any time and not feel bad.
One key is by doing one thing every day, you don't forget where you left off, and parts and tools aren't missing, and you don't waste time figuring it all out again before you even glue on your one piece.
The place where it breaks down (for me) is you can't do "one thing" on ten different projects. Gotta dig myself out of that hole.

Thanks for the explanation, sounds like a good plan, just keep whittling away at it and its done before you know it.

More progress, controls in, tips carved, rough sanded, and flaps fit.

I can’t tell what this pic is Warren. Both pieces of “flap” are hinged, but usually there is a fuselage in between the hinged flaps. Is one of those pieces a trim tab or something? Can you back up a little and take another photo maybe...

Yes, it is a trim tab, it's going to be adjustable.
