I have a Twister kit and instructions and plans to Fancherize it. I also have one of Walter Umland's Fancherized kits on order. I am considering building the SIG kit as is rather than convert it. Is there really that much difference in performance?

YES

Walter's kit no doubt has better wood. Depends what you need. If you're learning the pattern, or need a practice bird, a stock Twister will work. Adjustable leadouts and tip weight box are important. Not that hard to Fancherize a Twsiter, tho. Take a look at the conversion, see if you think it's easy to do. Go ahead and Fancherize the stock kit as well. Two Twisters is not a bad idea.

Yea. What Dennis says.
Both will fly well. Just the F-Twister is suppose to be a little better. A lot of what you do on a F-Twister I feel you do on any profile to make it better.
I just did some of that with the Streak Master. Made it longer.
Last night I rip the wing out of my Pig-Twister in hopes of building a E-F-Twister. LL~

I cut a new fues for an ARF Flite Streak. Added an inch or so to the front and two inches to the rear, increased the size of the stab and elevator. Better for stunt. Smoother round maneuvers, more stable, feel like it goes where it's pointed. Same idea, as Paul noted. The Twister is very similar in moments and airfoil to Al Rabe's Mustant. Doesn't look that way. But the airfoils are virtually identical. Moments similar. A few years back I matched them up. In out club we recommend wingtips, and hacking up the profile side view until you think it's pretty. Dan Banjok, on the other hand, thinks the stock Twister looks good. No. No. No. No. Ugly!

I built mine stock but stretched the tail 2" , it flew great.

Hi Dick,
If you are in the Advanced class, or Expert, then the mods will probably be noticeable. More stable, better turning, etc., but a stock Twister is a great flying profile. ;D

Dick: Just as a matter of information I am writing a three issue article on the "Fancherizing/Allenizing" of kit TWISTERS for CONTROL LINE WORLD. I think you'll learn a lot from some of the techniques I've used. First issue should be "on the street" end of March. Remember one thing and that is as a competition pilot I've developed an aircraft that's a TRAINER and tough to take the ground pounding learning the pattern yields. If I can help you don't hesitate to call...I'm 60 miles west of Chicago. / BILL ALLEN (815)-758-0741
