St Louis Jan 1st flying at Buder Park

There were three of us at Buder Park in St Louis MO flying on Jan 1st. it was 30 degrees F when I got there, I took my coat off about an hour later after it warmed up to the low 50's. The wind picked up after noon so after 12 flights with 3 models the three of us flying felt like we the year off to a good start.

AJ had two highly modified Skyray's (pink and the green/orange/yellow). The Pink Skyray has a single wheel that drops off after the model takes off

Steve Smith flew his Fancherized twister and I had my Turkey Shoot model that now has a carrier hook. The plan this coming year is to try the model out on the carrier deck at Buder Park

Its great when you can go fly with friends.  I spent day getting a TV for the wife.  Did get to the shop and work on the Fury. D>K

I cropped one of the pictures to see the linkage better. The pushrod comes out of the wing and goes directly to the elevator. AJ added the linkage and horn on the flaps to make it work. So instead of having the pushrod come out of the wing and go to the flaps and then have another pushrod from the flaps to the elevator he added this linkage.

 Thanks Fred, that's what I thought it looked like but couldn't quite tell for sure. Now, I just can't figure out why.  ;D

  Didn't Bob Palmer use a similar linkage on a couple of his designs? Or was it some other stunt notable?  It can make some push rod installations a bit easier depending on air foil thickness and such. Like anything else with a model , it just takes a little planning. Especially useful on a profile. I have seen this before, just can't remember for sure who it was.

I think he already had the pushrod coming out of the wing (on the bottom) and then added the flaps which has to be on top and probably didn't want to modify the existing pushrod, just my guess..
