ST 46 Back Plate Gaskets

I am looking for a source of back plate gaskets for a Tigre G21/46 engine.  Does anyone know of a source?

Hmmm. I'd like to know the answer to that question too.

If you don't get an answer for a confirmed source, you might contact  ICBIMProducts.com.  They do laser-cut engine gaskets, including some for "classic" engines like OS, McCoy and Fox. Their website didn't list the ST, but they might have made some before, or be willing to.

Back plate gaskets are really easy to make, use an old deck of cards for material, place the card on the back of the engine, use an Xacto knife to cut the large hole and mark the mounting holes. Install on engine, cut around the outside with your Xacto #11... Done...

Was needing some gaskets for mine also, along with some for several 'vintage' motors.
The guys on Da Bay: larrybtoys had many laser cut gaskets and I asked them about my list of motors.
They didn't have any because they didn't have a motor to measure them to properly cut a gasket.
Sooo, I sent them a ST G-21 46 and here are the results.

What Bob said it true. You can make them faster than I can type this.
 There is one mistake that most make in choosing a material to make the gasket from. Playing cards are to thick!!
 Here is the reason. The backplate needs to be as close to the case as possible. The back helps keep the connecting rod on center. If a thick gasket is used the rod walks back and forth on the crank pin. It is a very small amount but shows up as a worn backplate and it also allowing the rod to walk on the wrist pin. On some motors I found the rod hitting the piston boss. Note on all the ST/46 ABC sets that came from Brian the boss for the wrist pin was to narrow allowing the rod to hit the piston .  When I was doing ST/46 reworks this is the part of the mods I did that made the motors so reliable and more powerful than stock motors. I did many hundreds of motors and made my own backplate and head gaskets.
 Make the gasket from the thinnest material not thick playing cards. I use to use thin glossy magazine covers.
 If you have the motor apart open up the distance between the piston bosses and set the wrist pin up so it drops through the piston. Just these two mods will free up the motor and allow it to run cooler and longer.

Personally, I use a grocery bag. Cheap and ready available!
Don't know about opening up the piston bosses Eddy. What I do is to sand the varnish off the wrist pin and oil it real well. It is very free at this point.
All my engine work is for personal reasons only!

I haven't used gaskets like playing cards or paper for some time now.   With the engine disassembled I take lapping compound to the back plate and crank case to get the surfaces to match.  Then I put a thin coat of gasket gel/goo on the back plate and bolt it down.   After running engine I then retighten the back plate bolts.

That's EXACTLY what I have been doing for the last thirty years with no issues whatsoever.
I do not use any non-metallic gaskets.
