Title: Squelching a rumor...
Post by: Bob Hunt on June 21, 2017, 03:52:38 PM
I got a call this afternoon from a friend and he told me that there is a rumor going around that I'm shutting down my foam cutting business. I do not know who started this rumor, nor do I care. The fact is, my foam wing cutting business is hopefully going to be in full swing for many years to come. It is true that I have essentially retired from CL competition flying, but certainly not from foam wing and Lost-Foam wing cutting services.

Thanks - Bob Hunt

Thanks for posting this Bob. I, for one, am much appreciative of your business. I wish I would have known about it years ago.

Bob, you and your business mean a lot to people. You are always willing to help and give advice - many of us are thankful for that.  Glad to hear your services will be available for the foreseeable future.

I disagree Bob. If you watch Tommy play you will go smash your guitar with a hammer. LOL. You got me to watching Him. He is just amazing. What a person can do if they just stick with one thing forever. I do love to hear him play. I use to play a Fender bass in a country band in another life. I still enjoy picking around on my old flat top Gibson though.

My two cents as a modeler and semi professional guitar player;
Bob does a better job bookmatching skins than Gibson does bookmatching maple tops on their Les Paul line!!!! :-)

Mine is one of the smaller Gibson's, an L00. It is older than the hills probably a 1940's model. My daughter picked it up for me some where. It is in super good shape for as old it is, but the neck is a little narrower than I like. But hey, it has great tone and plays pretty easy.

Wow Jim, you don't have a guitar, you have a RETIREMENT fund with six strings!!!  I would love to caress that thing!  Don't ever let it go without a professional assessment.
On the Taylor guitars, if I were not building customs, that's the acoustics I would be playing.  Plus, a lot like Tommy Emmanuel, Bob is a really grand gentleman.  He has a ton of helpful videos on youtube for guys like those of us who build.
Hey Bob Hunt, are you building that first jumbo yet?  I have my all-koa about ready to spray.  I'm glad you're sticking with the foam business, also.  Maybe I'll give you a call in a couple of weeks.

Lookin' good.  I first met Jeff while we were both exhibiting at a guitar show and became instant friends.  It was there that I reintroduced him to models!  We've traded info ever since and, yes, he is a big help.
I just finished a parlour size mold yesterday, will have a contract for one of those in full KOA starting next week.  The guy is going to use it with banjo tuning!  Stunt contest this weekend in Muncie at their west side circles celebrating some major anniversary, don't remember which one.
Take care, my friend, play loud!
Will

Looks great Bob! I really need to roll up the road to check all that out - I'll bring my Martin and my Tele when I do! Just need work to finally stop being crazy ...

I've been on the "electric" side of things lately, in more ways than one. Learning how to wind pickups has been an interesting adventure...

It's my fault, Bob. I mentioned that I was thinking about having you cut a foam wing for a Spectron Columbia. Some figured you would shut down operations before doing that.

I use to play a Fender bass in a country band in another life.

I had a life like that once.

I'm a Feathercut "Super Nerd", Bob.

But I have experienced divorce in October 2015, and have a new awesome GF now, so the bows have been dormant.
Soon though, soon.....
I was the "Go to guy" for many years for sailplane wing cores in SoCal before every Tom Dick and Harry got a CNC machine. All 15-60 psi foam, and usually 5-7% thick cores with 40% tip template chords... When I was lucky, some one would ask me for an RG-15 (@ 9% thick) multi panel wing for vacuum bagging CF on.
Still like the feather cut for multiple copies though.

Soon there will be smoke!

Experienced as I am, I still learned from your DVD, so thanks for that and yes, Long Live the Hot Wire!

Kind Regards,
Chris
