Title: spruce spar stock. Where to get it?
Post by: dave siegler on October 05, 2015, 11:53:31 AM
Sig doesn't list it anymore nor Midwest.  Balsa USA only has basswood sticks.

Who has sticks?  or do I order it from Aircraft spruce and rip it myself?

National Balsa lists it.  I haven't bought any spruce from them, but I've been reasonably happy with what I have gotten.

Hi Dave,

Aircraft Spruce sells spruce already cut in spar size strips.  It is listed in the wood section as spruce capstrips.  Aircraft Spruce cuts sizes very accurately.  Or, as you mentioned, you can buy spruce in the right thickness & rip it yourself.

Bought spruce spar materials from Aircraft Spruce for my RingGoose project. They shipped them taped to a strip of pine.
