Title: Spring Time Cheesehead Flying
Post by: Harleyman on April 21, 2008, 07:49:39 PM
Well, the Cheesehead boys got out for the first time this spring on Sunday.
Surprisingly the wind held off long enough for us to sneak out and put up a few flights.

Dave had a new Slob and boy is that thing a RIOT!   y1  I have got to build one of those.

Joe rebuilt his crashed Wingmaster.  It's now on it's third wing.  I think Joe has an wing assembly line in his workshop.  That Wingmaster really flies nice.

I finally got to try those new Master Airscrew 10-5 three blade props.  They work great with an LA40.  My Vector had nice tension in every manover.  Last year I flew my first  and only full pattern.  On Sunday, I flew two, not pretty, but I did it.  WHOO HOO!  I feel like a big boy now.  Yippee!   ;D

The wind picked up pretty strong after a few hours out and we called it a day.  At least we got in some April flying.  Kind of rare these days in Wisconsin.

Yea Chris gave me a call while Joe was flying I heard the engine in the back ground. We were out too on Sunday afternoon. Nice to know we were flying at the same time, I had just landed my Green Stunter when you called. Can't wait to fly with you guys this summer.

We are scheduled to hit town on the 25th of July. Get it on the calendar.

Chris, even though I've lived my whole life in CA, I'm always interested in what goes on in Wisconsin due to the fact that that's where my dad and grandfather lived during their flying days. Beaver Dam was the town. Dad was a member of the Beaver Prop Busters and later the Beaver Cable Twisters. Maybe someday I'll get to come out there and fly.

I don' know of any control line activity in Beaver Dam.  They do fly some RC up there.  Beaver Dam is still pretty rural, it is about 1.5hr NW of Milwaukee.  About 1hr to Oshkosh

Once  I get the tank venting figured out that BiSlob will be great fun.
If was good seeing Chris and Joe.

Looking forward to your visit.

Dave

Clint, We'd love to have you come out and fly with us.  Just send me a PM or e-mail if you ever make it out this way.  I'll even set you up with a airplane to fly.

That invitation goes for anyone else that may end up in our neck of the woods.  In late July we will have our annual Cheesehead fly-in hosted by Team Rootbeard.  The Taylor family makes the drive up every year to fly.

I have an aunt and uncle that live in Sturtevant. Is that anywhere near where you guys fly?

Hi Clint,
Sturtevant is about 10 or so miles from where we fly at Paul's Father-in law's farm. It is near Racine and you would head south on the interstate and get off at Rt.50 exit and head west. He is right across the street from Thompson's strawberry farm. I just met them a few years ago, but I now consider Chris and Paul as some of my best friends.

That is just a few miles from where we have our Cheeshead Fly-in.
You could almost walk it.   ;D  Sturdevant is an exit or two north of the farm we fly at.

COOL. I gotta get out there soon. I've been saying I'd visit them now for years. Now I have a better reason to go.
