Hello all,
I am mounting an APC 11.5x4 on an LA .46 for my almost completed F-twister. I am having to go after the Dubro 2" spinner with a dremel to make it fit. Does anyone make a spinner that fits without modification? What are you guys using?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

I whack the prop slots bigger in my Hanger 9 spinners.

Have you tried Tru-Turn?

Have you tried a Brodak spinner?

Jim, because of the thickness of the hub, you do have to grind a lot both for the blades and hub clearance on the inside. Otherwise you will have to buy an aluminum one, as the others have mentioned. If you are still "learning" with your Twister, it might be better to sacrifice a few plastic spinners ;).

I bet Tru Turn will offer something pretty nice for you...

Yes you have to grind away.
Good thing is if you put on a sanding drum run it kind of fast it will melt the plastic off rather then grinding. Makes a nice edge then just cut the "flashing" off. Bam! Your done.

As has been mentioned, some file work will work on any spinner. However, Tru-Turn makes a "Wide Blade" spinner specifically designed for that prop. I am using one on a Ro-Jett 51 and it is a perfect fit. Details can be found at "truturn(dot)com". 8)

I think I'll go this route.
Thanks.

Been a while but pretty sure someone makes a plastic spinner that will fit APC props, maybe SIG. You will have to cut more out of a Dubro than I was comfortable doing. I prefer Brodak if using aluminum, Tru-Turn spinners are not cheap and never liked the screw in the nose.

Also check out Maxx Products They sell a ton of good stuff for us at really low prices Keith

My suggestion is to run away from any spinner with a plastic backplate, for several reasons. The Great Planes plastic cone/aluminum backplate are light and inexpensive, but a bit of a PITA to get aligned to the prop. Otherwise, I like Randy Aero spinners best, but Tru-Turn or Dave Brown spinners are fine...tho I don't really like the look of the screw in the tip deal. H^^ Steve

Agree with above however Tru-Turn is only one that makes wide slot for the wide blade APC props. FWIW: Not all the APC props are this wide. For most of them all it takes is a little file work. If the model needs nose weight, consider a Tru-turn or Dave Brown. If it is nose heavy, Brodak spinners are much lighter as are Randy's. 8)
