Plane choice

I've been contemplating a new winter project....what are your suggestions for a T&L Tigre .51 ? ( full or profile )

Hi Gene,

I flew a SV 11 in Advanced for a couple years with a T&L ST G.51.  RTF wgt.= 64 oz.  Flew great and handled wind very good.

Hi (again) Gene!

I would suggest any model that is around 650-670 sq. in. and under 70 oz.  My USA-1 might have been my best airplane ever and it was powered by a T&L ST G.51.  Of course it was 700 sq, in and 54 oz RTF.

Most any of Randy's models, the Legacy, a Saturn,  Gieske's Bear,  Al Rabe's Classic era Bearcat and Mustang, etc., should work with this engine.

Pat Johnston has a couple of planes that are perfect for this engine.

STARIS SATONA SHRIKE VECTOR all work very well with ST 51s, I have setup many Tiger 51s for them

I can ratify Bill Little's suggestion of a USA-1.  Built at a weight in the mid 50's or even high 50's (oz) range, it is an incredible plane.  Mine is probably the best or almost the best flyer in my hanger.

Another excellent choice along the lines of Jim Hoffman's suggestion is the Werwage Geo XL.  The wing is very similar to the USA1 but with more modern construction (Geodetic), and is very light and stiff.

Mine was the very best flying airplane ever in my stable with similar power to what the T&L ST51 produces (Belko 56).  It is relatively easy to build under 57 oz (mine was 54 oz with a fairly skimpy finish).  It is truly a superb flier.
