Title: Specialized Balsa? Very un-special if you ask me!
Post by: Bob Hunt on April 09, 2008, 01:23:49 PM
I recently saw mention of a company called Specialized Balsa on this forum and on another one. I took the bait and ordered 200 sheets of 1/16 x 4 x 30 inch balsa and agreed to pay a large premium to insure that I received 4 to 6 pound stock. I was told that the order would go out within 2 weeks. Over a month later I called to find out the status of my order and was told that there were several orders ahead of mine and that they had no more wood of the quality that I ordered to send me. They said they only had 24 inch stock.

Needless to say I cancelled my order and told them that I would never order from them again. Just thought you all might like to know this about that company.

Uh.. A very sad state of affairs.

I can feel for ya, I have gone thru the same things for years now trying to buy first rate wood  for my kits and wings.
It is a BIg dissapointment also when you pay for 4 to 6 pound wood ,and the supplier  ships all 6 to 8 pound wood, then tells you that " it was all cut out of 4 to 6 pound blocks"

Hope maybe on the way, I have ordered an batch of "unobtanium trees"  ultra light ultra strong wood!! %^@  LL~
