There is a special project in the works, and I would like to hear from anyone that may have participated in any of the SIG contests, especially all you "regular suspects" that were there every year. Send me an email with so I have yours to contact you for details as they become available.

Dan, I went in '95, and that was the only one I have been able to make. Had an absolute blast!

I talked to dad about it. If you've been one contest and thought it was awesome, definitely hit him up!

This has been kind of a quickly put together deal, but I heard back from Paula at SIG with some details. Paula was one of the gals that worked the contest at the sign up table and the hobby shop trailer, for those of you who attended the contest.
The Special Project is a birthday party for Hazel Sig, who will be 95 years young next month. She wanted to have a party, and Paula said to invite all the control line guys who flew in the SIG control line contest through the years! Paula contacted me and a few others to recruit some help with names and contact info, so I figured one of the fastest ways to get the word out was the internet forums. Pauls emailed me today that they have information up on the SIG web site now that is as follows:
Come One, Come All!
To Hazel's Open House 95th Birthday Celebration
To Be Held On March 5, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
at the Montezuma Memorial Hall In Montezuma, Iowa.
Birthday wishes can be sent to:
SIG Mfg. Co., Inc
Attn: Hazel
P.O. Box 520
Montezuma, IA 50171-0520
or send an email to: mail@sigmfg.com
I know that this might be kind of short notice, as it's only a few weeks away. I think it's pretty cool that Hazel is thinking about all of us who invaded her back yard each year to have fun and maybe wants to relive that a bit. I am going to make every effort to attend, as I feel it will be a once in a life time event and a chance to spend some time with a true legend in the hobby industry, and model airplane history. I got to visit with Hazel a bit at Mike Gretz's memorial service last February, and Hazel was sporting a big black eye from a spill off her electric scooter chair! She is still a sharp as a tack and was a real hoot to talk with as I made suggestions to her about improvements to increase the handling and stability of the thing to make it more like the Corvette she was used to!
Anyhow, I hope the word can get around to what I call all of the "regular suspects" that flew in the SIG control line contests and a lot of you guys can attend and share her special day with her!
Thanks a lot and type at you later,
Dan McEntee
