A couple of our younger stunt guys need to start a movement to get PA added as an Olympic sport. This would save the hobby and keep it from dying off with us old farts. Heck now they have twirling a ribbon on a stick, so why not PA. Contact the ribbon-on-a-stick people and find out how they pulled that off, bet you could get some of the guys from other countries to help or at least sign a petition..
I brought this up a couple years ago and still think it could be done. Just need someone to take the ball and run with it who might be around long enough to actually see it happen.

Hi Bob, have been told that at the last London Olympics (1948) there was control line flying during the opening ceremony. Havn't seen any archive coverage of it myself but was hoping to see it this time round. No joy there.. oh well maybe next time.....

Nice idea but sadly it is never going to happen for the simple reason it would be considered as a motorized sport and they are not part of the Olympics. Once in the London 1908 games "water motorsports" were included but that was the one and only time as the IOC decided that the Olympics was not intended for motorized competition.

is it me, or are there posts dissapearing from this thread,,

I confess...I removed my post. Decided that posting the pic of my two Olympic themed airplanes was too much like a thread hijack plus don't want to overpost as those planes (indivdually) had been seen before. 8)

How about indoor handlaunch glider? I've watched the Jumprope National Championships several times, on ESPN and Disney channels. I do not recall seeing any of the AMA National Championship events on TV, much less the World Championships. Why do you think that is? HB~>

Whoever thought up Women's Beach Volleyball as an Olympic sport needs a pat on the back and a free pint! :o

"Cut and Dried!" If allowed; it would have to be electric.
When trying to describe "control line combat" to the uninformed...I've coined the terminology "Control Line Martial Arts." Like having a long Samurai Sword in your hand. H^^

Well, there is nothing more cut and dried than Combat! But adding CLPA to the roster of Olympic sports would certainly ADD to the subjective/ objectivity observed in several other current events judging in determining a winner. ;D

So maybe the thing to do is hold the Worlds in the same city as the Olympics and close to the event. I bet CL would get a little exposure and maybe some media.

Reading the morning paper, I gathered that they are dropping a windsurfing class and adding kiteboarding.
First they'll have to figure out how to race those things without getting the lines tangled ... or cutting somebody's head off with a line ~^
