Can we assume that John Witt won Scale with his electric Proctor "Jenny"? I heard from half of the bloody stump division (Mike H.), but he sez he'll be ok after a bit of surgery. I hope Bob Duncan recovers well from his propeller encounter. All else I got was that PW won Expert with his new mini-electron burner, another electric from Calif. won Advanced, Ted F. won Classic with the Ruffy and then did quite well with it in Expert. The weather was quite decent. Randi Gifford judged Expert with Don McClave.

Looks like I gotta go to the SIG contest to meet Randi. That's like SE Montana, right?  LL~ Steve

Can't give any results, but can say what an experience. Was well worth the trek. Had a great time, met some good people, and got to see the SUN and blue skys.

I think that you will probably pass through SE Montana on the way, but don't stop there.

Well, I had a really good time. Thanks to Paul and Brett for help with my overweight toadmobile.

Mike Haverly, Bob Parker and Bob Duncan all had encounters with spinning machetes. Mike even did something I didn't think was possible. He stuck his hand in and broke a CF prop. Yikes!

Really good flying and very nice weather (though a bit of breeze would have been nice - hey, you can't have everything). I took a bunch of pictures. If I can, I'll post some later.

Haverly's was certainly ugly. I was there for Oliver's accident at the NATs, but this was much more startling. I was a few feet away and looking right at it. Broke some bones in his fingers and filleted the meat off his fingers. We found the top of his index finger and the fingernail lying in the circle. And it broke the prop - not out near the tip, either, but about halfway down the blade where it's thick, with the engine at full speed. He was *VERY* fortunate that it didn't take his finger off completely.

All of the incidents were precipitated by people getting *off their normal sequence*.

Couple other minor injuries as well, Mac Ryan sliced his finger tip pretty good through the nail in the racing circle, but Todd and Mac, ( being racers and all, ) fiberglassed and CA'd the cuts together so they could fly clown race ( against me) at which time they set  a new national record! Right On Mac!
It was a good weekend, dont have specific results though they will follow shortly on Flying lines I am sure. I appreciate all the positive comments I got on the Avenger. It is flying well now, and once a pilot takes the handle that isnt afraid of the ground or scratching the airplane, it may do well.
Sport Scale was won by John Witt , Designer scale by Mike ( I wont spell his last name cause I will butcher it) and Profile scale was won by John Wright.
Todd and Mac Ryan won pretty much all the racing classes
Burt Brokaw flew virtually every thing except maybe combat? placed well in several and looked about 20 pounds lighter at the end of the weekend after all the running around.
I only remember a few tiny raindrops falling while Pat and I were judging Scale flying sunday morning.
there were actually three judges for expert this year, Don Mclave, Randi, and,  uh, crap I cant remember now. Lots of great flying, fantastic air that pretty much got a little non directional at times but other than that not a problem.
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!
