D>K Once again our windows are closed and our heaters are running. The winds are howling. It must be climate change cause it wasn't this way so much in the past? So we are in a building mode like it or nor. My shop has no heat, don't need it? Not true I need it now. I know those of you further north have it much worse than here so I do not expect any mercy from you. When I lived in the north i had a basement and the heater for the house was there. It kept the basement warm to. There are no basements in a Florida house and a house heater here is nothing more than an oven element mounted in the airhandler of the air conditioner. When it really gets cold it cannot keep up. Should a power failure happen the house can drop to below 50 pretty quickly. No No please don't cry no no please don't laugh either. I just thought you might want to know. They are flying helicopters over the fields to prevent freezing the crops. There where three crashes the other day. I think Al gore has something to do with this.

Heck! I would go fly in 50 degrees as long at the wind it now howling. LL~

Ty, it was 24 at my house in St. Augustine this morning, just 11 miles from the new KOI site. Wind chill was 17. The weather liars are saying that January will not be as cold as December has been. Hope they are right.

20s in Central Louisiana last night. Reminds me of the 60s-70s weather.
Not sure if we can stand anymore world wide runaway rising temperatures but I am sure it will rise as more and more cold climate temperature recording stations are shut down or abandon.(All part of the plan!)
Now that's what I call 'Man Made Climate Change!' DK^
Actually its all my fault

Where will you be in 2012? ???

Chuck I did go flying yesterday in 50 degrees but sunny weather here in north Texas. The winds were up around 5 to 10 mph. So it was pleasant. Now on Wednesday it is suppose to be a high of 76 with winds out of the south 17 -27 mph with gusts 30+ mph. So no flying tomorrow. Probably I will mulch pecan leaves in the back yard by the lake. Oh yeah I will continue working on the Rayette and dream of putting up a better pattern someday.
I am glad that you are feeling well and are active in building and flying again. What are you working on?

Well he can't blame this cold one on me this time. 50 degrees in the shop is good painting temp in my shop. When building I crank the heater up to 60. H^^

Chuck,
Tell them to ground the helicopters and just light smudge pots. It's cheaper and fewer crashes.
Here it's currently 36° and the rain stopped for a minute. Flood warning all over, but that should be cured by the weekend. It's going to snow and that should slow down the floods. At least until it thaws.
-
Was 74° yesterday, clear and near calm, on my mountainside SE of Tucson.
We can't even BUY winter down here... I miss it, like that badly infected tooth I had yanked out once. (Once per tooth is about the limit, no?)
Seriously, though, (i.e., you have warning the BS is on the way) it does get cold down here occasionally, but doesn't stay all-winter type cold. I've seen temps in the 0°-15° range. But deserts don't hold heat, so a lot of that is early morning radiation cooling, before the sun is high enough to warm anything. We can see early mornings in the 30's and afternoons in the 70's. We wear thermometers out.
We even have snow in the deserts, now and then. One year I couldn't get to Tucson for the SW Regionals. I-10 was snowbound, and all 3 of Arizona's snowplows were busy up around Flagstaff...
Final insult? Been there; done that; moved to Arizona...
Feel for you guys, sincerely. It ain't fun, especially for the deep south folks whose blood has thinned to adapt to the warmer climate.

How about those of us that were born here.

Ya know things are gone wonky when it is frezzing in Orlando, and in the high 50's with low wind in Albuquerque NM on the same day. Bad part is I have to work and can't go flying - it is dark whn i go to work and dark when i get out- knd of like when I went to High School in North Dakota- except that it was never warm enough to fly up there past Thanksgiving unless a really serious warm front came in, and then you knew it was gonna be windy!
Heres hoping KOI is perfect weather- I took vacation just to make sure I can go, and hopefully I will be able to sneak out of NM and go to the SW Regionals to boot!

SMUDGE POTS are not as popular as they where in times past. I think the do gooders along with the EPA put the cybosh on them. Yes we are all hoping for good weather for the KOI!!!!!!!!!!! I and all the others are looking forward to seeing old friends from far and wide.

YEA!!! I'm glad you're no longer accusing me of bringing the cold down here with me. I guess that means it really is safe to meet you at the flying field in the morning. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

You know it's rained a lot when the parking lot at your office has a current.
Clear today (of a wonder). And it's now climbed up to a balmy 34° (from a low of 24°). A pause before the storm tomorrow.

Isn't it amazing how warm it feels when the temps go from 2F up to 17F. This is why I guess I stay in KANSAS/MISSOURI area. If you don't like the weather today, just wait a day or two. Last Monday AM it was 2 degrees F. Friday afternoon it was 31 degrees F and felt so warm. H^^
