South Florida CL
« on: October 31, 2015, 02:28:28 AM »
Hello, My club has cut a 150 foot grass circle as we will start offering CL flying at our site to those who are interested. Come down and check out our field. We have it all.  WWW.Sundancersrc.org     Hit me up here with any questions, As of now I am building a new handle and need to obtain some lines and most of all a plane. I've been back into RC for a while but CL is in my blood. If I can do both at the same facility, I am Golden!!!  Tight Lines Boys and girls!!!  John

That is great John. We put in a control line circle about 17 years ago at our R/C field. It has served us well even though we do not have many that fly control line. Many years ago most clubs were model clubs and it did not matter what you flew whether R/C, FF, or control line. Then, it seems we got divided by interest. Now I see many clubs have gone back to integrating as to get as many members as they can, especially in smaller clubs. Many that fly one thing also fly another. Variety is the spice of life sort of thing.

:)  Wow, what an awesome site!!  From Google Earth it looks like one could "plant" their airplane darn near anywhere they want without pissing off the neighbors!!  When y'all gonna have a c/l fly-in??   ;D

Looks like a nice site.  Your pond excites envy in my heart.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Do the guys in Stuart know about this.   It has been several years since I have been down there.  At least 7 or 8 years and they were using a soccer field early mornings.

Thank you gentlemen,  Yes, I believe we have the finest site around. We cover it all now. As a matter of fact we are hosting a rather large Helicopter event this coming Friday-Sunday ( Nov. 6,7,8 ).  I have been itching to fly CL for some time and we do have plenty of room. The Circle I cut is at the East end between the Lake and the Canal just north of the access road.

I am not aware of any guys in Stuart that fly CL. But they are all welcome at The Field (AMA Required). Heck, we can even fish in the pond. I personally caught a 5 lb 4 oz Catfish. We have no noise ordinances , Plenty of up front parking, and can fly anytime.

I will be taking over the office of President of the Sundancers this coming January. Our field as of now is in great shape and will only continue to improve. I am looking foreward to teaching some club members the thrill of CL. I have very fond memories of my friend Dick Kurth teaching me to fly with his U-reely and his Fox 35. Oh  the great times we had at Flushing Meadows.

Feel free to ask any questions, Tight lines, Johnny Rotten Out!!!

That is great that you have done that, there are some CL pilots that live nearby that have said there is no place to fly. I have passed this information on to some CL pilots that live north of your location.

This is our club website here in the St Louis area if you are ever driving thru the area. we have both RC and CL at buder park.

Calling your location South Florida isn't accurate. I am in Miami. The only place further south is the keys.

I did'nt say "The farthest south in Florida you can get" I simply said "South Florida".  You are welcome to drive up and fly if you like. Keep your doors locked and your alarm on down there in Miami.

I will most definetly post up if there are to be any CL events, but rest assured you would hear about it first here anyway. I am very interested in how many Pilots I could get. If I had to, I could cut 3 150 foot circles.

If anyone is interested in coming down, I must say that there will be NO CL Flying the Week of November 1st through November 9th. The reason being is that the club is hosting a rather large (100+ Pilots) Helicopter event. And there is a FPV Race course set up on the whole east end of the field. Sorry if this inconvieniences anybody.  If you can make it, check this event out. Some real nice birds and some Very Skilled Pilots will be here from all over.   Cheers, Rotten40851

The guys in Stuart fly usually at Halpatiokee Park at Kanner and I-95.  We flew at the old Sundancers field in 2002 and 2003 before the heli pilots
started using that area.
You could get by for an event with two circles.  A lot (most) pf the contests I go to are two circles.
