source round cowl

I need a source for a round engine cowl between 6.75 to 7.25

Start measuring the round plastic jugs in the supermarket.  For example a 3 quart Clorox bottle is 6 1/4 inch dia.

Or try a thrift store/ junk shop that has an old aluminum pot. The newer ones are sorta thin and cheap.

The pessimist says "thin and cheap".  The optimist says "thin and light".

Try these folks.  I haven't used them, but they have a good reputation: http://fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com/.  Ask about weight if it makes a difference to you -- they may be, um, "thick and solidly built".

Roll your own out of 1/32 ply. I did one for a galloping comedian that came out lighter than the kit aluminum cowl. Took about 15 minutes to make it up once I had the inner ply and the 1/2 inch balsa front circles cut to wrap the ply around.

Thank you all.  As per a suggestion I have found a round cowl the right size at the grocery. It is a plastic bowl that is rigid enough and still light enough.  The TRILOGY is in the monocote stage now.  It is going to make its target weight of 64 ounces @ 890 sq areas.  When it is done and flying I'll post photo.  Thanks for your help.  SLEEPY
