Hi Mike!
So true and at the same time so sad!

I still miss the aroma of glue and dope. Then when the dope heads decided it worked great dumping in a paper sack and holding it over their mouth is when things changed. Lost count of how many times I would sit in class and be chewing glue off my fingers. Also Mom would give old rags to wipe hands on that some times got used. Never worked on planes in good school clothes. H^^

Yes, memories. I grew up in Northwest Indiana, on the shore of Lake Michigan. Winters were horrible. I remember one winter, down in the basement, I was brushing dope on a plane. Of course, all window were shut due to the weather.
My father, smoking a cigarette, walked downstairs into the basement, opened the door, and was nearly overcome by the fumes. I bet he thought the lit cigarette would cause an explosion.

Ah yes: Aromatic-triggered memories!
I feel like a kid again every time I get a whiff of Ambroid, or butyrate dope, or fresh balsa wood... what wonderful childhood/youthful memories! Through that magical aroma I am whisked away in a time traveling experience to that basement in KC where I created my flying "masterpieces".
Such innocent and fun days!

I was littler than that when I built my first model; rubber band powered.

I've had a few long CA gluing sessions without good ventilation that turn into a fun time...
Before Monokote things often got dupey too.
