I thought there might be a few guys who would find this interesting.

That definitely is not something you see or hear of everyday. Way Cool! Michael Millard

Yeah, that fits the description!! I wonder how many they took on the flight? Kind of like the roll of Mercury dimes that Gus Grissom took on his Mercury space flight, but went down with the capsule when it sank. They were found inside when they located it and raised it!!
Type at you later,

Very cool souvenirs!
I worked for Hughes Aircraft--when there still was a Hughes Aircraft--and there were still "old guys" around who had samples of the molded laminate from the HK-1, aka Spruce Goose. Lot's of lore in the aerospace industry if you worked on a particular project.
If you want to know more about the development issues that they had with the stainless sandwich construction on the XB-70, you should read the excellent book by Jenkins and Landis called "Valkyrie." Here are a few details related to the sandwich material: the majority of it was PH15-7-Mo with the facesheets brazed to the core material. Where they had separation failures (as they were working out the joining process and demonstrating durability in flight) they welded pins between the facesheets.
A failure of the wing apex skin on air vehicle 1 allowed it to be sucked into the right intake and destroyed five of the J93 engines. Some sources said all six were damaged. That was no doubt a bad day.

I flew FF there. With Tom McLaughlan and Bucket Johnson. I lived in Mississippi.
I …… wasn’t actually a gentleman then.

John Violette is in our club here in New Orleans and he flies FF. He speaks very highly of you.
