There is a copy of a letter from Solarfilm circulating on facebook that they are going out of business this month. I don't know if this is true.

I think it's true. Here's the letter. This sure hits me. I'm covering a plane now in solartex and I plan on covering my imitation in red, white and blue solartex. Dang!

Unfortunately this just seems to be a sign of the times.  Solartex was used more by the RC guys because it was thought to be a little too heavy for the hard core PA guys but I used it on several CL models and did not find this to be the case.  The material shrinks beautifully and gives you to most realistic fabric covering look I have found.  It is not cheap.  Balsa USA was the state side distributor that I bought from and it was $28.00 for a 2 meter roll.

I fear We are going to see more and more sources of building materials disappear over the next few years.  I really dont expect Tower to be around a great deal longer and Hobbico is already in bankruptcy.

There have been many products that we used to build with over the years that have slowly gone away and yet we seem to improvise and keep it going somehow.  I just dont know how long the hobby will keep its head above water after we are gone.  I guess the Chinese will end up owning the market.

Mike

PS  Nice job on the Cub Dane.
