So what are drones good for?
« on: August 30, 2017, 06:34:47 PM »
This.
It's our first attempt and I'll be downloading a video editor to add some tunes and  graphics, as you can see this is an RC field so getting the drone in the right position won't be easy, we either will have to wait for the wind to shift or ask the guys  to not fly for a bit so we can move the drone to get a better angle, but for a first attempt not bad.  ;D y1

Let us hope for more mass delusions like Jeri Ryan. Nice to know there will still be spandex and high heels in the 25th century!

But seriously folks, the quadcopter parked over the CL circle is a great idea and could be a marvelous learning tool. If nothing else its just darn cool. I presume it is being flown by viewing its camera picture on a screen?

Yes, the pilot is using the small screen on the controler that came with the drone.

Thought this would be a good place for this:
"Zdenek Kalal invented code that doesn’t simply recognize faces, but can track them as they move around. Not just faces, either. Almost any object you define on screen can be monitored, tracked, and memorized for future use.

His  pioneering work in object tracking has resulted in a system he calls Predator, which he’s just released to the world under an open source license. It’s also won him an award.

The software is open source, probably under LInux but the computer power to run it is not.
