Title: So how would you score this?

I tried to get a flight in this morning before the winds kicked up. I got to the hour glass and got blown out at the top. The wind started to get real gusty and rather then do battle with the wind I decided to save the plane and just ran the tank out. So would I get scored on what I did? And of course no PP's.

10 points for the attempted maneuver and you would have got landing points assuming you did not over-run.

0 points for an incomplete Hourglass, loss of pattern points, 0 points for the Overhead Eight and Clover, Landing scored as usual.

I have pulled out of many patterns when things didn't go .  That is what I should have done in Tuscon at VSC.  The pic tells the story.

Yup, 10 pts. for the hourglass under the 2011/2012 rules. It would be 0 pts. under the 2009/2010 rules.  H^^ Steve

Thanks Steve.  I thought that at one time an incomplete stunt scored zero.

Ya know, what I don't understand is 1) how it got to be zero in the first place, and 2) how it got back to being 10 points starting Jan.1. Apparently, we weren't interested in just getting PP's back? I kinda liked the zero idea. Correct entry and exit, or no points. Pretty simple.

Does it matter? Yes, it does. For instance, my engine burped in the OH8, but I got through it. Two laps later, I did the first loop of the Clover...a cut-off loop, as it worked out, whipped the plane for 2 laps and landed. So I got PP's, but I had no intention of trying to complete the Clover. I knew it would burp, and was fairly sure it would stop if I did a cut-off loop. That's essentially what I did, from 42 degree altitude, so it counted as an attempt at a Clover. Good thinking on my feet, maybe, but that's not what I want to see happening.   :-[ Steve
