I had the day off so I went to get some flights in this morning. I had got 5 or so flights in then disaster struck! After finishing the pattern, I was waiting for fuel to run out in level flight. Then from about 10 feet high the plane took a 90 straight in the ground. A lap or so before I felt a bump, but I thought it was the wind. Shortly after it was all over. PULVERIZED
The first thing I thought was the leadout or bell crank failed. I worked the leadouts and the flaps worked fine, but the elevator didnt. I replaced the pushrod with a carbon tube and ball links. It was my mechinical failure not Brodak MFG. Actually I was relieved it was my fault and not Brodak, because I have never had a problem with a Brodak product before.
The motor mounts broke, the cowel destroyed, but everything else survived but I believe the planes a goner. When I feel like messing with the plane again, I will find where my pushrod failed to prevent happening again.
This is why I stand behind these ARFs because if something like this happens. Its easy to replace. I am going to get an ARC Vector 40 to replace, so I may be down but not for long! See you all at Muncie
