Eric and I discussed the progress on the development of the Stingray kit. Eric informed me that 95% of the work to develop the CAD file is done and we are going ahead with pre production orders starting Oct 1. You can check the details on this in Control Line Flyers in the Vendors Corner Section. The next step is for me to build the prototype and make sure there are no bugs to be worked out before we release the kit. We are being cautiously optomistic about a release date and would love to have this in your hands by Christmas but that is not a guarantee. We are reasonably sure if it is not available by Christmas, it will be ready the first of January.
Just a couple of comments here about this kit. The wing contains 48 full ribs. There is a LOT of wood in this kit and even though I have not begun to build the prototype yet, I do not think I would recommend this kit for a beginning builder. We have kept the internal construction of this kit as close to the original as we possibly could.
