A "national" model plane contest, and only 6 entries in Beginner.  I wonder if that is typical, or maybe there are just no beginners left in the country.

I promise you there are more beginners in the country. I've been teaching myself to fly C/L for almost 2 years now. Nobody in my club seems interested because they have to build. They don't have the time. Meanwhile I'm having a blast.  #^ #^ #^

The huge majority of people who still fly control line, do it for fun, mostly on weekends and probably have not, nor never will, compete in any CL contest, much less the Nationals.

Covid kept me and my family from attending and participating in the beginner event. Really had been looking forward to it.

Work kept me from going to the nationals this year and a lack of confidence and skill kept me from competing in the beginner class, but I’m doing a lot of practicing in hopes to be good enough to compete next year.

Shouldn't this thread be posted in Contest results forum?
