Well now that the Vector is done I am back to work on the Sky -Streak. ( Or maybe a FliteRay)
I got the idea from Andrew Hathaway. I made a SkyRay fuse and will use the wing and stab from the Flight Streak.
I am using some of the knowledge I learned from Jim while building the Vector. ( The correct way to apply silk span to the fuse. Working off lines on the fuse to ensure the wing is in straight. I will also use his method on doing fillits.
I did call the Tech support guy to get his approval to glue the wing in. This way if there is any problems at all I can blame him for it. LL~ LL~ LL~ (inside joke for Zuriel and Louis)

Wow.. it looks pretty cool! When you say Sky Ray.. are you talking the 1/2a Sig plane?
Not to rain on your naming parade here but while you are still in creative mode you might want to find another name. Larry Renger has a little 1/2a stunter he is developing named that. Of course you can go buy a nice little rubber powered plane on the Guillows rack still to this day with that name.

The article is in the November issue of Flying Models. I hope you guys like it! Larry Renger

Also taken are Streaking Clown (it’s a good story) and Scat Streak!
Looks like a fun project. Good luck !

Looks good!
Wing covering material?

Thanks guys. Just a knock around / trainer type plane but there is always room to make it better right?
It is a .35 size Streak. But I run it with a FP .25
Wing is monokote, fuse and rudder are silk and will have rattle can paint. Going to add a CF pushrod with ball joints.
What's in a name?
From the side it will look like a SkyRay, from the top it it will still look like a Flite Streak.
So here is a contest... using these letters what can I call it.
kaertsetilfyaryks
(keep it clean) <=
-
I know... I can call it Himmel Streifen
-
I used some of those letters..... ;D
Perhaps not:
Sod Buster
Escavator
Dowsing ShhTick
Perhaps:
Falken
Spud Runner (This one may be in the wrong list)
Mowhawk
Sprint Streak
Rickety Ray
Sky Writer
Caliente
Medicine Man
Vindicator
Taylors Swift
-
I think you got it right the first time!
"kaertsetilfyaryks"
Look, I'll make the lettering graphic for free! Any color any size.

Sky Freak
Freak Ray
Streak Ray
Fry Ray

Good job Paul....a scratch built ARF VD~

I will take you up on the offer. I like it too!
Or ykskaerts might be better.

I won't play you in scrabble. LL~

Use the "Sky Streak" name. If I remember correctly, Sal Taibi published a hot "C gas" free flight by that name in FM, so it had been used before Larry's 1/2a design. This should be a very good flying combination, regardless of what you decide to put on the wing. I would suggest putting your AMA # where the "Flite Streak" is, and the name on the inboard wing, per the rulebook. y1 Steve
-
How about "Streaksky" Clearly inwented by the Russians! LL~
-
It seems to be a popular name.
-
I'd say call it whatever you like. The name "Skystreak" has been used before and it'll be used again. I used it back in 1994 on my hybrid Skyray 35/Flite Streak, I'm sure I wasn't the first and I won't be the last. If you really want to kick the bee hive call it the worlds best Ringmaster. #^
-
I think it should be called the Streakaway. Andrew's fly great.
-
Paul,
Decide on a name and I will provide the graphic.
Great plans, Sky Streak! That's a great looking model. Be much better larger.
Anyone ever build one? A Larger one?
Want to?
CB
-
Paul,
If you were not getting so good I would suggest something like "Turfbuster" or "Worminator". Skystreak is probably going to work.

Surprise me. I will PM my address.

How about "FUBAR"?
-
FUBAR was the name of a FF kit in the early 1950's. Was cute with the anhedral tips on the stab.
-
Plastic Surgery :-*
-
I kinda like (snafu)
-
How about: Morph or Mutant.
Or remembering that famous song of a few year ago, leave the fuselage in clear and call it "The Streak".
-
You're becoming a master builder. Share the knowledge on the correct way of doing things.
Willie

I'm no where close to being a master builder. You have access to the same guy that is teaching me. Jim "The Bearcat" man. y1
-
I have had a number of requests for a .40 size version of my Sky Streak and Eric Rule says "Bring it on!" If I draw it, he'll make parts available. I may make a full fuselage rather than the profile.
-
Does anybody know where I can get plans for that Sky Streak? I have a D-C Spitfire that needs a home, and that looks to be a good plane!

Flying Models 11/11.

-
Paul,
How 'bout "Streakin' Paul". >:D
George
-
How about there are already too many models with "sky" and "streak" in the name.
-
You are probably right about the name, but pretty much all my recent models have the "Sky" prefix, and I wanted to pay homage to Scarinzi's "Streak". What else could I do?
Sky Slash
Sky Dancer
Sky Fire
Sky Rider
Sky Blaster
Sky Streak
I probably am forgetting one or two. At least I have thrown in Toucan, Cheechako, CliffHanger, Cutlass II, Zombie Terror and Zippie Dragster.

If you mean the KK Skystreak 26 I can expand the plan up to full size in PDF format if you like. It will be a bit blurred but good enough to build one.
Email me and I will send it
Mike

Paul, you said I could name your model and I have. "The Streak Master."
OK, now with the introduction of a fine looking model from Mike. The Skystreak. Mike are you hiding other great designs? ;D
Gee, I gotta say this, the fuselage on this looks much like my "International." Good thing I drew the "International's" fuselage in 2009 and can prove it. n~
I have all I need to draw this model at any scale in vectored format. I also have connections with a laser cutter. I will absolutely make one for myself, possibly with some small changes. Sure, it's fun to have someone through a model into the air, but mine will have gear.
I would never build this thing at 26". The only engine I have that small is a rubber band.
If you "really" want one of these models, you can contact me if you choose. AND if there's enough interest, maybe a game plan can be put in action. "Gotta love it when a plan comes together."
As I said, I will build one of these models for myself, with a few changes.
OK, the new name of my model ?
"The Streak Master II"
CB
-
The Streak Master is coming together.
Working on the controls now.
-
Paul,
I see something on your building bench I've never seen before?
A bunch of pins with pronunced red "pinheads?"
I could use a bunch of these.
Supplier?
CB
-
Jim Snelson has those pins in stock at CLC, I picked some up last time I was there. I think they are DuBro- nice sharp pins and easy to handle.
-
Got mine from Tom Morris.
-
D'oh! Evidently my Spitfire has grown up, and is now a Sabre! I guess I'll expand the plan a bit, maybe go from a 26" wing to a 33".
