Signing On To Stunt Hangar
« on: June 06, 2012, 07:58:12 AM »
I am just wondering why I have to sign on every time I visit Stunthangar.  I check stay stay on "forever" but yet I still have to sign on every time I come here.  It is not that big of a deal but just curious why.  Once I sign on to SSW, I do not have to sign on every time I go there.  I use an Apple IMAC computer, not a PC and I am wondering if this has something to do with it.  Again, I don't mind signing on every time I come here but I cant figure out why.  Anybody have any ideas?

I have the same thing on a PC. I thought it was my computer set up which I wasn't able to find the problem or fix.

It is on your end and has to do with cookies.

Internet options, General, Browsing history, unclick the box next to "delete browsing history on exit"

Internet Options is found under Control Panel.  My box for "delete browsing history..."  is not checked (so it doesn't delete on exit).  I still have to sign in.

Not a big deal, but annoying.

That is one of them, the other is the browser security settings. I forget how to get to it on exploder but I think it has to be at no higher than halfway up the scale to "strict". Solution is Opera, Firefox, even Safari for Windows.

It is definitely an issue with it deleting or not accepting cookies. A whole bunch of people had the same issue with the PAMPA website, where it uses them slightly differently and would permit you to log on, but then immediately delete the cookie and kick you back to the login screen. People would call me and tell me they couldn't log in, and I would check, and it showed that they had logged in a few minutes earlier.

When you open Stunthangar are you going to http://stunthangar.com and clicking the "Stunt Forum" button or are you accessing the forum directly from http://stunthangar.com/smf?

Ok I have narrowed it down to Firefox.  I use a MAC and Safari keeps me logged in.  Firefox will not.  I have been into firefox trying to figure out what to do.  It shows the stunt hangar cookie as being there but it is still kicking me off.

I also run Firefox and am having no problems at all.  I go to the site from my bookmarks and it comes right up showing me logged in.  I even have my history set to clear after every session, but my bookmarked sites all work.

The only time I ever have to re-log in is if I have shut the computer off, which I don't do unless a software upgrade requires it.   I have DSL and am connected all the time.

Yea, I own a few apple products.
They are kind of cool. My company gave me a ipad and I down load all my Stunt News on it and have even ripped a few model videos on it. Never without my CL fix.  Works better then my laptop for viewing. Just wish I could post pictures here from my ipad. S?P

Hope you get your browers problem figured out. :)

Thanks for all the input guys but you keep telling me to go to control panel and talking about internet explorer.  Apple computers do not have any of that...they operate entirely different than a PC.  I have straightened out the problem by using Safari rather than Firefox.  IMACs do not use Internet Explorer for a browser.  I can use Opera and it works too.

Thanks for your input..I appreciate the time you all took to try and help me...

Mike, if you're interested in resolving your Firefox issues, I suggest the following.

First, leave stunthanger.com by logging off. Make sure that you are NOT viewing stunthanger.com in any way. Then do the following. These steps will completely clear your system of all traces of stunthanger.com and will then let you re-initialize it when you then later visit the site again.

1) Open Firefox and bring up the "Preferences" window. Not sure where that is on a MAC, it's on the Edit menu on my Linux system, and I understand it's a Tool item on Windows.

2) On the Privacy tab, set the "Firefox will:" to "Use Custom Settings for history"

3) Make sure the "Accept cookies from sites" is checked.

4) Click on the "Exceptions" button to bring up the list of sites. If "stunthanger.com" and/or "www.stunthanger.com" are present, highlight them and then click on the "Remove site" button.

5) Back on the Preferences window, click on the "Show Cookies..." button. Find and delete all cookies associated with stunthanger.com

Probably best to also clear the cache. Not sure if it's the same on all flavors of FF, but on my Linux system it is done be visiting the "Advanced" tab of the Preferences window, where there is a "Clear now" button associated with "Cached Web Content".

Now stop and restart Firefox and go to stunthanger.com. The site should appear as a totally new site to your Firefox browser, and it should properly set cookies, etc. to work as you want.

Hope this helps.

(And I hope this is all correct! Suggestions/corrections/etc./ are welcome.)
