Title: Sig Zlin Akrobat Kit

I found a NIB Sig Zlin Akrobat 70" W.S. R/C  kit. Reading the box I see that Mike Gretz won several Awards for C/L scale with this back in the 70's. I am thinking of buying it but was wondering if anyone knew if it has the C/L conversion instructions with it?  I think it is a foam wing. Any comments would help. Price is right it's been collecting dust and I think I can get it even cheaper than listed. Is it worth the effort?  Thanks

Leester,

Unless you're thinking of building it as CL Scale, it might be just a heavily-built model intended for RC on 60-ish engines.

SIG did sell a smaller Zlin stunter, companion to the Chipmunk they still(?) offer, and about the same size. They both appeared in the early 70's. The stunt Zlin had a greater taper than the Chip, and a bit less area. The taper was not as radical as the actual Zlin aerobatic aircraft. The Chip was more popular, and flew quite well.

Again, if you are thinking large CL Scale, that 70" RC kit might serve nicely. For CLPA, tho??

Thanks Lou: I had intended it for scale. I did hear from the LHS and he said he'd take 70.00 for it. I couldn't turn that down. y1 y1 y1 y1 j1 j1 j1 j1

I had one of those SIG Akrobats in the late sixties....I finally got it to fly pretty well on a ST46. Bit heavy tho and it showed up on the turns but if you could get one and with the better building skills we have today, and lighter more powerful motors, it might just be a great stunter.
