SIG SKYRAY XL

Does anyone know if SIG has ever followed through with a kit for profile design called SKYRAY XL? 54" SPAN, 550 Sq in, w/o flaps, similar to the P Force.

   If he follows through with making the trip to our Buder Park 60th Anniversary Fun Fly this weekend, Bob Nelson is supposed to have some kits with him. I flew his prototype at the SIG C/L Fun Fly last year, I think it was, and I thought it flew quite well. I felt really comfortable flying it, and flew a good pattern with it . Kind of unusual f or me flying some one else's model.. We'll see what the weekend brings.

Do you know if this version of the Skyray uses plywood ribs or balsa ribs?

If Bob brings some kits to the fun-fly do you know if the kits will be for sale or for the raffle drawing?

I'll be there for the Friday clean-up and Saturday at the Fun-Fly.

  Oh yeah! So are you buddy! 
 
  I haven't had a chance to bust your balls in a long time Crist and just couldn't resist it! The airplane is a continuation of the Skyray line and they all had a short nose moment. I can't remember what the one I flew had for power, but I think it was one of those Norvel .40s, and  it ran pretty good, and the model flew very well. It may not be a beauty queen, but then neither are the other two Skyrays. It's the end result that matters.

    It is my understanding that he is bringing kits to sell I am not sure of the type of construction but I'm thinking all balsa this time around. I have a set of plans and will check if I can lay my hands on them easy enough.

On the early prototypes I had to add weight to the tail with a .40 engine so I moved the wing forward an inch and a Sullivan SS-4 or Hayes 4 oz. tank still fit OK.

Bob at Sig mfg. posted that he has 4 pre-production kits available for $100.00 apiece that he would like to sell for evaluation.  I think he would like them built sooner than later for build/flight reports/issues.  I would like one but I am a slow builder and a slower flyer.
