Help, I need a piece of wire (off topic item)
« on: May 12, 2024, 07:02:13 PM »
The wire cutter on my cheese slicer broke and I need about a foot of .012” Stainless Steel wire. Solid CL line should do the trick. 😢

Anyone out there with a piece you could spare?  H^^ 🤠

It would be a waste to have to buy a complete set of lines and I don’t know other sources.
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Hi Larry:

I think I can help. I'm down to about 10,000 feet of .012 Stainless Steel wire (Werwage and I bought a huge spool of it years ago and I still have a ton of it left!).

Send me a PM with your address and I'll get it out to you tomorrow (not the whole 10,000 feet...  LL~ LL~)

In the future, you can go to your local music store and get a stainless steel .012 guitar string.

I have owned three dogs in my adult life, all of them excellent dogs, mixed breeds, recues from kennels and such. One thing they all had in common is a set of ears that are like sonar and finely tuned to sound that the little roller on small cheese slicer have when it rattles on the handle. There could be an F-18 or F-15 flying over my house in full afterburner, and  if I'm getting the cheese slicer out of the kitchen drawer and they are at the opposite end of the house, they can still hear it and before you can blink an eye, they are their sitting at your feet whining and looking for their piece!! No matter how careful I am to be quiet about it, they hear it. Never mind recommending wrapped individual slices, they have that sound of the wrapper coming off in their sonar range also!! This has to be a common thing among dogs, ya think?

Dan, I know exactly what you go through.. Our dog loves crushed ice. She is approaching her 14th birthday. She no longer comes when my wife calls her. My wife thinks the dog is going deaf. But she can be at the other end of the house, and she can hear me lift the lid on our refrigerator's ice Despenser and she's right there.

I don't know the shape of the cheese slicer in the post but I have one with the roller that cuts Spam into 1/4 inch thick slices. Perfect for sandwiches. Never used it for cheese.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.
I wouldn't take her to a dog fight even if she had a chance to win.

One of the best Seinfelds was the one where Kramer went to the vet for medicine to cure his cough and becomes canineish ... at the end of the episode they are trying to get Kramer in the car to go to a real doctor ..... Jerry finally rattles his keys and Kramer comes running ..
I too have some 012 wire .... I've been flying with it lately ... gossamer threads as opposed to 018

Local supermarkets Pavillions and Trader Joes have a remarkable assortment. I just bought a wedge of Jarlsberg.
