Hi folks

From time to time, I receive requests to connect with people via LinkedIn.

I've been retired for 5 years and did not get involved in LinkedIn—there was quite enough about me on the Internet as a result of my business activities without me adding to it.

So, I'm not trying to be rude when I don't accept invitations to link with somebody, I just don't see the point.

   Hi Geoff;
     I tried to sign up for Linkedin a couple of years ago when starting a search for a new job. In the process, I did something that was definitely "wrong" in my opinion, and checked a box I shouldn't have or didn't check a box I should have, and suddenly the site latched onto my email address listing, and send out "invites" to everyone on it! Nothing I could do to stop it. It seemed like I had people pissed at me all over the world. I heard from people I don't think I ever met even on line asking me to stop with the invites! That is probably what's happening with you. If you know a lot of people and are in a lot of address lists, you'll still be getting them because they go out automatically.. I haven't tried to log on since that day and things have died down, and I doubt I ever will log on to their site again!

Yup.  LinkedIn is pretty aggressive about connecting you up to people.  Because nothing's more helpful when you're a plumber looking for work to have a bunch of circuit designers in your network, or visa versa -- right?

facebook is quite enough, and I don't really see a lot of appeal to it, except the Alberta controline group and now PAMPA are quite active on their pages. I guess we're all old fuddy-duddies and behind the times. I've got an email address and a phone number, and would really prefer using those. You too?  Steve  (aka "Mr. Flip-Phone"...at least it doesn't butt-dial)
