Could someone please let me know what the wingspan and wing area is for the Classic Legal F.W. 190 designed by Jack Sheeks.

If it's the FW190 in the January 1968 Flying Models? The span appears to be 48 1/2", the root chord is 12", and the tip is 9" plus a 2" rounded wing tip! You can work out the area! It's the wing tips that get me!

Hi Chris,

I talked with Jack on a few occasions about the FW-190.  It "has a lot of Airon in it" according to Jack.  I checked my rib templates and it is identical to the Airon but just a touch longer.  Jim flys his with an OS 35S, IIRC, and it flys great.

As to the wing area, I am guessing just shy of 550. ()  I have had plans to build one for several years, but have balked at the cowl.  It won't be hard to make it out of balsa (I can't find a child's cooking pot that size! LOL!!), it will just take time!

I measured a canopy that Bill Sawyer makes and it looks like it will work just right for the FW-190, it is what I plan on using.  I will probably power mine with an Aero Tiger 36.
