If you have never been to SIG Field, it is the only really level and flat acreage for quite a ways around the area outside of town. When standing on it infront of the hangers, and looking around all you see is rolling hills. I would guess a lot of time, money and effort was put into grading it into the nice strip that it was. At 2600 ft and 105 ft wide it was pretty nice to fly models on and probably really nice to operate full size aircraft from. The south end was pretty wide open, the north end had on low telephone/power line across the road from the fence. I don't recall any modelers flying in there for the contest, but Sean Elliott flew the EAA replica of the Spirit of St. Louis in one year while recruiting volunteers for KidVenture.
Type at you later,
