A big thank you to the people at SIG for another great contest.  I think it was the 3rd Annual 25th Anniversary contest.  Here are the results:

Shame I had to miss it this year.  How was the weather down there?  Up here (310 miles north of Montezuma) it's been blowing 15-20 with gusts to 25 and higher both days.

Thanks for posting the scores, Crist.  Wished I could have run into Darrell Harvin again.  We had him over to the former house in Washington State for dinner some 15-odd years ago when he was still in the Navy assigned to the big "E".  He had a great picture of his Imitation sitting on the catapult track.  I knew Darrell tends to build heavy but...

It was hot and windy Saturday.  It was cooler but still windy Sunday.  Notice all the passes in the 2nd rounds for both days.

Did Crist mention it was windy?  I managed to get a little over 3 mpg better on the ride home thanks to the tail wind.  It may have been the fine Montezuma gas as well, but we will never know.

Even though I tried to talk him out of it, Michael wanted to fly the second round in the higher winds.  It worked out for him, so I gave it a shot, but without the same luck.  While it is not as much fun flying in the high winds, it is still fun to be there with good friends and fellow flyers.  Looking forward to next year.

You know John, Michael is probably going to be kicking my butt in advance in a couple of years (by that I mean 2 years!). If I put my nose to the grindstone, maybe I can delay the kick for a year by working hard for the next 2 years and getting good enough to get into "Expert"  where I will be a perpetual bottom feeder--but hey, someone has to cleanup the bottom of the aquarium tank!

Another thing is that we actually survived the new pull test and having no pattern points!  >:D

It wasn't the end of stunt as we know it.

Hi all

This was my first contest, and I enjoyed every minute of it and want to express my thanks that I could attend. I flew in Beginner Stunt and this became the first moment I have competed in any model airplane competition. I can safely say that after my flight, in winds that were at my limit, I came out with my knees shaking, experiencing great hit of adrenaline. It was fantastic, I gave it all I had during my flight and still managed to screw up my overhead eight by not completing the last overhead outside orbit, this gave me a zero on that maneuver. Shortly after that the wind became higher and I elected to forgo the second round. I think that many others dealt with the same decisions in many of the other classes.
The airplane that I chose for practice and my event was an Avia 87 from Model Aviation and a Fox 15 BB motor turning a 8x5 prop at 15,000 rpm. This motor took a while to get set up but once dialed in worked for me just great.

Watching Michael Paris fly was very interesting, is is really heartwarming to see youth deliver a fine performance in these same conditions, I hope that other young people take up this activity and move it into the future like Michael does, he did a super job.
I enjoyed the hospitality of all the other competitors and their helpfulness, and the fantastic job the organizers did in making this an event to remember.

Thanks to all
