SIG Contest cancellation
« on: March 14, 2013, 04:28:49 PM »
I was advised today of the cancellation of the SIG contest for this coming June.  Apparently this was posted on another site and then confirmed by an employee of SIG Mfg via a phone call with a fellow member of my club. I hope this is nothing more than a rumor.

Has anyone else heard this distressing news?

Thanks

 Yup, a major bummer. :(

Didn't this happen a few years ago and then it was revived?

Don't recall if it came back the same year or the next.

Any other details?

Thanks!

Steve

   Hi Steve!
A couple of years ago it was canceled at the last minute due to flooding or the field. That was almost hard to believe until Gretz posted the photos! Amazing how much water stood on the field. I haven't canceled my hotel reservations just yet, and may make the trip anyway and see some stuff that I have been meaning to all these years. The Knoxville Speedway and the National Sprint Car Museum isn't far away for one thing. I've been going up there for so long, that if it's the end of June, I just have to be in Iowa!
    Type at you later,

It is too bad because its one of the best contests in the midwest. Great times and good reunions.

Exactly, Sig will be greatly missed by it's loyal attendees. Modern "business" too often forgets what has provided their history, and their reason for being.

Last year was my first contest. And was really looking forward to going back again this year. Maybe if they received some calls?
