Sig Buster 24"w/s
« on: December 05, 2006, 10:15:04 AM »
I've obtained a Sig Buster C/L kit for a grandson.  This is the smaller size, 24" wingspan.  The plane is advertised as a trainer, among other uses.  Looking at the airfoil left me wondering.  It is very thin, with a very sharp leading edge.  Has anyone had experience with the model?

I am contemplating laminating up to an 1/8” sheet on the bottom of the airfoil.  I plan this in the expectations that the lift will increase (of course, so will drag) and the stall speed will drop.

Comments please?

Thanks,
Henry  :(

Henry,
My son built one and like the box said it is a trainer. Just like the Flite Streak trainer it is a plank wing.
It will fly a lot better then a built up wing on a real windy day. IMO.

It will do loops and lazy eights, and will take a little bit of a beating.

If you grandson can fly without crashing much then it will be a good trainer. IMHO.

Found a few pics. It was too windy for me to fly my SkyRay that day but this was fun to fly.

If you want to see it fly, check out this link.
Close to the end you will see it do the long lazy 8 and inverted.
