Here you go, James. This is the Magician built from the plans I drew which you are building from. Mine was powered with an FP25 and weighed in the 28 ounce range. Great flyer. I think the Magician is one of the best planes for learning the pattern on.
BTW, I also have modified the plans to take my medium sized electric setup. That setup weighs just about the same as a Fox 35 setup, so is very competitive for this sized plane. We are all having way too much fun these days.

Permanent, per the plans. Mine is from the original Midwest kit, which was excellent BTW.

Two Technical Model Products (TMP) Magician 15s. My buddy frank Salvano on the left and me on the right. Frank's had fixed flaps, mine had moveable flaps.
My buddy and I went to the Willow Grove Nats in 1961 to fly CL scale. I had a Consolidated Jenny. This was the year we graduated high school. Frank didn't build or fly, just went along with us for the trip.
While down there we went to the hobby shop in Bargain City. Frank was getting the bug and when I saw the Magician kit and got one, Frank got one , too. Several weeks after the Nats, a Fury jet landing at Willow Grove crashed into Bargain City and destroyed it! Close shave, huh?
Todays Nats have way improved flying, but the atmosphere and camaraderie of the Navy Nats isn't even approached. Brodak's is the closest thing to it.

Here is a few of mine. All with McCoy 40's except for the first one that was Fox 35 powered.
-
And the last one. Mine were all scratch built off Midwest plans with moveable flaps and 3/16 stabs and elevators instead of 1/8. Otherwise to plan with no changes. All have flown great. Only plane I have ever built four of.
-
Mine ..... McCoy 40 .... no flaps ..... carbon spoonbill prop ...

I bought mine at the Indy Sportliners swap meet. It was built and covered by Steve Couch. I tried one more inside loop than she had in her.

Picture shows aLA40/46, ultimately went with a FP35.

You asked for it, so laugh. It has a lot more flights left in it. I got the kit from Robert Brookins and I think the covering too. Has an LA 25 on it right now but wil get the Brodak 25 back on it soon. Also picture of my coaching/building staff and some goodies the wife made. H^^

Here's my Midwest Magician 15.
It's modified with flaps and a more rearward stab/elevator. It was a hangar queen for the first 20 years of its life because I couldn't get any performance out of it with an OS 20. Hung it for years in the direct sunlight which faded the Aerogloss dope, then replaced the OS with a Fox 19 and finally got it to do basic maneuvers. It now has a well broken in Veco 19 and with Spectra lines turns quite well.
The fun story about it before it was crashed, faded and retired, was it's entry in a then new event at the 1983 Chicopee Nats. It was a static, pilots choice event where models of different categories where voted on by the contestants. The event lasted only that year due to lack of participation by both entrants and judging. So I got a 1st place Nats plaque for being, I believe, the only entrant in that category. Big ------- deal, as the saying goes!
But the attention it got from Bob Hunt at an equally short lived District 1 modeling expo about that time, is what I remember the most. While on display, Bob acknowledged the work done on it and showed me the proper positioning of the flaps and elevator for a better presentation.

This is an ultimate size Magician. It has 900 square inches and 66.5 W/S Powered with an Enya 60Mk3. Surprisingly, not an arm killer to fly. Does make the circle look small though.
A Pat King design and a kit can be had. No flaps and none are needed. Part of a trio of large models. Has an 853 Ringmaster and a 900 Flite Streak in the stable. All are excellent flyers.
-
It's certainly not the ARGO or the ARGO 2. LL~
-
My first effort after 13 years out of modeling. It's been going strong for 12 years thus far. OS Max FP 40.

Great color combo. Reminds me of that animated Duster by Disney. H^^

This is an ultimate size Ringmaster.
Hmm, looks a lot more like a Magician. ;D

A 900 Sq in Magician is only a short step in time from a 853 Sq in Ringmaster. Blame Pat king for having me in this totally confused state. Building stuff like this keeps me confined to only tea for liquid refreshment.

Great stuff here guys! Thanks!
Had a 35 Stunt powered Magician back in the mid-late 60's on into the 70's. Very good flier. IF there was an airplane that would get me to build a stunt type ship ever again, I think it would be a Magician.
