Show and Tell, RingMaster' Look a Like'
« on: July 23, 2009, 11:18:46 AM »
It has been a while since my last time to show this project off for I have been busy with work on my small ranch. We just got in a good hay crop for getting the cattle through the winter so here goes.
The plane was on here a while back and has come to be near complete as you see in the pictures. The bottom of the wing is now covered with mono-coat ,not shown.
It should weigh in at around 65 ounces, has a wing area of 895 square inches, wing span of 66 inches, tail 26 inches, and a fuselage of 41 inches. The belcrank is 4 inches, Fuel tank 8 ozs. , Engine is a V60 Super Tigre of the 1970 vingage with an aftermarket muffler. It has a wingtip weight box and ajustable leadouts and has been made to look like a 1950's plane.
As time goes here it should be flyable in about a month. This is a dream plane of some thirty years that I have had in the back of my head. There is no blueprint for it other than a few rib patterns for the wing, and some patterns for some of the pieces. This has been a fun plane to put together, can't wait to see it in the air.

And if you fly it on 90' lines, it'll look like a Ringmaster in flight, too   >:D

We think alike, for the choices were narrowed down to Black, yellow, or polished aluminum. Thanks!

RW, In my seventytwo years I have built a lot of planes and liked every one of them. It has been twenty five years since I have built a plane out of a box. I love this hobby. I have an oversize Buster that looks just like a Buster on 75 foot lines. I'm thinking about a big Flite Streak................

Pat King has plans drawn for both the Ringmaster and Flite Streak at 150% and 200% original size. Good lookin' plans, too.

Pat King's plans are great.  I have built his 35 and 45 sized Streaks, and his Streak Bipe.  Your Ringmaster is very, very nice.  Pat King goes by Quickshift on Stuka Stunt.  He is a great guy.

Very very nice. A little on the small side but nice. 125 sq. in.  more and you would have made the 1000 sq. in. club.   Would you mind if I swipped the pictures and your data and posted them on the "Brotherhood" site.

Billy G, I believe that Dee rice has seen the picture through a mutual friend and liked what he saw but you are welcome to show it on the brotherhood site. It may insight some one to build and fly control line planes. There is a little naustalgia built into it for old timers like me. Thousand sq. in. club; Hummmmmmmmmm!
