Should I be flattered or pissed off
« on: October 25, 2015, 10:32:39 PM »
I just received my copy of CLW and noticed a picture of my Scratch built FireBaby replica. With no mention of where the picture came from or anything. But I was pretty flattered that it was being put off as a original.

Somebody thought enough of your creation to publish a pic. Be flattered.

You should write a polite little note to the editor, and to the author of whatever article it appeared in.  Point out that you built the thing.  They'll probably both be pleased to correct the omission.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

If your talking about the one on page 58 you should contact the columnist not Brodak.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.

If someone thought enough of my work to use it in an article, I would be flattered.

I'd be flattered .... but an owner credit should always be given.

I need to get my hands on the Oct issue .... Mr. Just apparently did an article on me and I'd like to see it.

I could certainly think of better things to be pissed off about.

I am very flattered. It was one I posted in the Firebaby build in 1/2a. And you are right MM it is definitely more famous than I am. It just took me off guard. I talked to the author and he said he had some pictures sent to him and pulled some off the internet. He asked if I would send him a link to the build.

As a sometime taker of pictures, it can be REALLY hard to take pictures and keep accurate account of what a picture shows.  It gets really tough at a big contest with 30 or more entrants all flying look-a-like planes(F2D anyone?) blue jeans, T shirts, helmets, and sunglasses.

Really nicely done Firebaby, by the way.  It deserves a pic.

My Jim Walker Fireball appeared on the cover of Model Aviation once.  Cronewett took the photo, but my name was not mentioned.
