Shop Cleaning Day!!

It finally got so bad I couldn't do any building. I hate cleaning, but I have no choice now. I started about noon today and I'm *maybe* half done. I've found NIP stuff I didn't even know I had, tools I'd thought were lost, parts for models that I'd already remade 'cause I figured they were gone forever, and a bonus package of new Xacto blades . Amazing the the amount of crap that can be removed from 150 sq ft shop.
Maybe I'll actually get something done now.

I like finding free stuff I forgot I had when I clean up. Its like a cool messy hobby shop

9:40 pm. Almost done. I almost forgot I had a glass topped table under all that shi.......umm... stuff. I actually walked from one end to the other without stepping over something.

I dunno Clint, I thiink Linheart may have pegged it - ESPECIALLY if you have a "gotta build" project waiting!  Clean workshops are NOT happy places. 

Me, I figure I'll clean up my shop when Craftsman invents the riding shop vac with dual bag collector.

You have to clean the shop at least twice in a lifetime. There comes a time when you can't find your tools and you can't find the money to buy new ones and again before you die just to prove you are not a slob. I hope this is your fist time. Be careful to not put things where you can find them-that never works and look out for old coffee cups that are growing things in them. This will be one experience that you will never forget Have Fun!

  Nah  Keith,  I think either a front end loader or a good back hoe would work better in my shop--- especially if I decide to clean out the junk barrel.

 I remember that problem, but the Big Gulp cups have been plastic for some years now. So, there really no incentive to move them out of the way 'cause they don't leak.
 The vast majority of non-modeling trash in the shop were those cups, diet cherry Pepsi cans, and Copenhagen cans.

The place looks pretty good for now.

Keith: u-da-man!  That's why they invented walk-out basements!

My biggest problem is the old kit boxes (probably about 10 of them) full of scraps of balsa, some just a couple inches square that I might NEED some day!

I've forced myself to throw stuff away. I collect the balsa scraps and the way I build, I often use them. But the rule is, if it's shorter than 4 inches or narrower than 3 inches (and short) I toss it. I clean out the scrap bin about 3 times a year and pick stuff up and put it away in whatever the appropriate place is after eacy plane. I actually dust about 4 times a year and clean the tools and such. Sad, I know but I get really frustrated when I can't find something and it was either clean up periodically or take anger management classes and nobody wants that.

I forgot to mention that you should not ask the misses to help because it is self incriminationg and give her to much authority over building practices. another thing that is disturbing they always think you are moving everything from one place to the other just to confuse them. As we know that is true and you know it an I know it but they don't have to know it
