A question about CA

Has anyone had any luck using CA to attach a rear view mirror to a windshield?

Epoxy or JB weld maybe?

I got some stuff from autozone and it did not hold. 5 bucks down the drain.

I believe the secret to getting the mirror mount to stay attached is cleaning / cleaning / cleaning the windshield and the mount surface. Then after you glue it in place, tape it securely and give it a good 12-24 hrs cure. 

The auto store stuff worked for me- but I would bet that good quality hobby CA will hold just as good.

The CA sold by the auto stores is different. It is much more resistant to UV.

I think it is CA.  If you suspect it of not being good, go to a better class of auto parts store.

99% Isopropyl alcohol, or acetone.  Nothing that has even a hint of grease in it.

My kid had a tantrum in my truck after I glued one of those on; the little puck came off with a chip of glass on it.  Fortunately it glued right back into the hole, and after over a decade the crack hasn't propagated.

it is NOT CA - it is a UV set glue that using UV light to set.  similar to Loctite 3751 (but then you need a UV light to make it set) that takes about 1 minute.

we use the  loc -tite brand with the activator here in the shop.works with no problems.

I even ruffed the spot with some emery and it worked.  ---LOUIE
