The header is misleading -- the nice lady didn't just "go for a ride"  <=

One of my aunts was a WASP. She was checked out in most of the front line fighters of the time, ferried P-51s, P-38s, B-25s and some others. I never had a chance to talk with her about the experiences she had, now she's gone of course. The recognition comes too late for many of these fine women. Came the end of the war they were essentially told to go home and forget about it.

Aunt Betty here in Tuscon worked at the plant in KC where they built some of the war planes.  I guess WWII was a hard time for all.  Heading for field today to see if engine will run I just put together. HB~> HB~> H^^

My mother welded the super structures onto Liberty Ships from 1941 until 1944.  My Dad operated the crane that put them in place to be welded.  All this took place in the Kaiser Shipyard in Richmond CA.  After I came along in early 1945 my parents moved to Modesto, CA where I ended up going to school with George Lucas who made a movie about a few of us....ugh... Also Modesto is the city/town where began my modeling career with the Modesto Flying Circus and the Western Associated Modelers.  My parents couldn't take me to contests but I did ride to them a lot with Dan Cockrum or Paul Isenhower (rest his sole!).  Well that's enough self history for now.

Christopher Columbus Park on Silverbell Road in Tuscon AZ.  Monday was real calm and I got two flights on the Firecat.  This morning, Tuesday was a blow out.  They didn't even have a pilots meeting.  Will try again at 0700 Wednesday morning for first flight.   :( :( :( H^^
