Not sure about who makes the Ukey anymore, but give them time. Try the search feature and see what you get. As far as the tank a 3oz should do it, Brodak has the BH-596 which is about as short front to back as your gonna get at 2 1/4".

Ken,
Just took a peek at my Ukey (40 size I think). I note that I mounted the gear on the inboard side on the fuse---so it leaves the outboard side clear for the tank.

Thanks to all that replied. Even though it's a ukey fairly simple to build. Great kit!  Since I haven't built anything since 1970, guess i screwed up. Mounted a dual landing gear, the kit supplies a single gear like the flite streak. Also I should have measured the set up before drilling the engine mount holes, LOL   Can the tank be spaced out to clear the wire gear and should the tank position be center of the venturi or engine centerline? This will be my first attempt in 40 years to return to the circle.  ken

On profiles I center the tank on the venturi center, but give myself adjustment room up and down.

Ken,
Got this off the net. No idea of how old or how accurate it is:

Good luck.

Ken --

You didn't screw up at all.  ;D It is better to have the rear of the tank further from the centerline anyway. Lots of folks block the rear of the tank out 1/4" or so as normal practice, to help get a clean cut-off as the tank empties. You achieved that automatically  y1

Yes, allow some room for vertical adjustment as previously mentioned. If you are using the Brodak uniflow profile series, for example, the fuel feed comes out the top. The extra loop at the top makes the tank feed as if the pickup is lower (or higher, can't remember which way) than it actually is.

A gentleman in our club ordered some U-Keys 6 months or so ago -- they showed up this week with an apology for the delay. Bottom line is they are available, and a little prettier than they used to be. (Well, the guy is a combat guy, so what those guys think is pretty  LL~ is hard to say.) I think it means it has colored Monokote on it.

While J & J still putters around, we no longer manufacture he Ukey series of ARF's.  Jim Pearson is doing a great job with this series and will get back to you.  Giving up the manufacturing of the Ukeys was a mixed emotional bag, but we needed to keep the planes available to the public when it became obvious we were simply swamped with orders etc.  Still, it gives one a great deal of satisfaction to see the Ukey still filling in an important niche.

A public apology – Howard, the “combat guy” is correct! The new U-Key is indeed done up in a very nice film / paint finish! Howard showed even more of his “taste” by adding some very well done black trim.

As you can see from the pic, Howard, always the combat guy, has the syringe poised at the ready, and a bewildered look, trying to figure out where the heck they hid the pen bladder.

Kudos to Mr. Pearson, nice upgrade. Especially nice to go to the trouble of a painted (matching, and likely more durable) fuselage to the film covered flying surfaces – only ARF to do so, as far as I know. The ply fuselage reinforcements are also more substantial than the original U-Key. The hinges are true pin style hinges. This is really a first-class airplane from what I saw. It will surprise the heck out of those accustomed to previous U-Keys. Also, unless something has changed, this is the only ARF made entirely in the US.

I wanted to order some planes from George Cleveland. Today I talked to someone that told me that George has had some trouble delivering in anything like a reasonable time. Anyone hear anything about this?

Wouldn't it be easier to contact George?  I kinda wish there were plans for the U-Key's and the Teosawki(hope it's spelled right).  DOC Holliday

I have been dealing with Jim Pearson for about two years. I first got a UKEY 15 and now also have a UKEY 40. Both are well built, covered with low temp monokote and fuse is painted with Lustrekote. Ply extends back behind the wing. Good value for the money and crash friendly.

Just received some parts from Jim, so I know the following is the latest:

Thank to all for the help. I' m going to call Jim and order a 40. In the mean time we mounted the fuel tank inboard on the 35, hope that does not cause any problems.  ken
