Bill,

Betcha could find one in Perry! I've seen any number of them there. Usually empty, or with dead batteries (I know you don't care about that!) and for a buck or two!!!!!  y1

If'n you can't make it yourself, look around for a buddy that's going.

Hi Ward,

I'm just looking for the charger.  I got a wall wart charger that *might* work, but I would rather have the "real thing".

Thanks!
Bill

I understand that you're looking for the 'real deal' Glow Bee charger, but I've kept my GB Fire Plug alive since the '70s by raiding the town recycle center. There are bins for discarded batteries and electronics where there are piles of wall chargers. The original Glow Bee charger output was 4.5 volts. I've found that the chargers that put a little more or less voltage work as well as the original and and are likely better quality. Just cut the jack off, determine which wire is positive, and screw them to the respective terminal.
Even more important, is battery replacement. The 2 volt battery is still being made by EnerSys and is called a Cyclon 2 volt X Cell. www.enersys.com. I always have a spare one for when the ability of the battery to accept a charge begins to decline after, roughly, a year and a half.

I'm just wondering what a "wall wart charger" is, and where to get one. Can't have too many chargers.   H^^ Steve

Steve - A Wall Wart is an ugly black plastic box with a transformer inside and two prongs/blades sticking out the back.  When you plug it into a wall outlet it looks like a wart unless your walls are black too.

You can buy them at Radio Shack, Walmart, Amazon, FeeBay, literally all over the place.  You just have to get the right voltage and match the plug on the end of the cord to the jack on the device you are charging, or buy a universal unit with several voltages and several plugs.

If you want the battery to last, one of the "modern" chargers will do a much better job. Most of the multi-chemistry chargers that people use for LiPo batteries also have settings for Pb- lead acid batteries.

Well, guys, I will take these two chargers I have and see if one will work.  Sounds like one should do a fine job!

Thanks to Bill B for the great deal on a mint Fireplug, and to Ward-O for the new battery!
