Secret Weapon

Yes, secret weapon for fun flying and just having a blast. I had gotten what I thought were full size plans and article off the bay. Bad of me not reading closer. Got it for minimum bid anyway. Then Barry Baxter to the rescue as he had full size plans. Was less than a week and I was making templates and cutting wood. I do have the seal coats on the P-47 and doing the filling/sanding. But, this was a break and only took a short time to finish. Covering is Coverite poly-ester, very easy to work with. The blue is Brodak dope as well as the clear top coat. Will have flying report when the weather cooperates.
By the way Randy Cuberly already knows what it is.jeh

Hope I'm not sounding like a jerk, but to quote a line from a Sat Night Live character "Isn't that Special"

Hey Doc, what is the engine on this bird............20fp or larger? Looks like a .20fp would be just right.

Wow, Doc! I built a plane from scratch once[no plan] that looked a lot like that. I named it "Hawk-I" It was back when I flew pen-bladders, and had an HB .20BB on it and was FAAAAAASSSSST! Secret Weapon? Sure! Nice job!

No it will not compete at VSC. Yes it is a special in honor of Bill Netzband, "The Jerkline Special". Power right now is an OS .35. 4 ounce plastic tank. The wheel is off of one of JJ's slow rats of the day. Still have his slow rat engine that needs some tender care. With the rear intake would not fit the plane.

As kids we built these things by the dozens! We did evolve then to simpler builds though...Note the flat bottom. Lined up the motor mounts, wing spar (1/2 " Square balsa), and the stabilizer. Built flat on the board. The first photo is a 15 Year old Ward-O and buddy Bill tweaking. The others are a "modern" reproduction of the Hots-A-Fran as named by one Pat Carroll. As faded memories would have it, this one didn't work too well due to an OVERLY short nose! Note also on the old pic the Girls kerchief used for the silk! Birds and flowers were the order of the day...But, .39 cents for the silk.
