sealing wood props?

After I sand and reshape my wood props what is best to use to reseal them? My old aerogloss fuelproofer is all dried up.

 I just use a couple of coats of clear butyrate, or a coat of sandable epoxy.

One of the spray can polyurethanes are fuel proof.  I hope someone can come up with which one it is!  I can't remember right now.........  just another possible alternative.

I have followed Bobby "Champione" Lampione every now and then and finished them up to match the plane with colored dope and clear dope.

I use Deft spray ploy from Home Depot.. Just check the label and make sure it says something about being  Alcohol safe after drying.

Spray a pretty good coat on both blades, put it on the balancer then spray more on the light blade. Works great to balance a slightly out of balance prop.

 you can 'feed' the timber with wood oil !

Is that like tong oil? It does not sound as fuel proof as the Deft stuff mentioned.

Pretty sure it is the Deft Polyurethane I was thinking of!

I seal with thin CA glue rubbed in with a paper towl.Sand with 400 do this several times. Shoot with Spray can auto

primer . Sand and repeat to the degree you want a good finish shoot with whatever paint you choose then

final coat with clear auto paint as this is very fuelproof .

Dave does really cool stuff. I saw his planes at Tucson, and they are true craftsmanship. And he's fast too. Right Dave? Dave builds so fast that some of his planes just burn up on the building table. Your props are beautiful Dave.

I do a lot of work with wood props, reprofiling, repitching and adjusting undercamber.  I am more interested in getting to the circle to check performance.  I apply a quick finish with medium CA wiped on with a paper towel.  I add extra coats to a single blade to bring the prop into exact balance.  I consider this finish satisfactory for full normal use and life, probably as good or better than the original paint finish.  When I have a very good prop that I'm completely satisfied with, I'll sand the CA down and paint the prop with black epoxy.  Meanwhile, I can go from bare wood to installed, ready to fly, in about 15 minutes.

thanks for the compliments,i guess i do build pretty quick. it seems pretty normal for me though
Gotta keep the flames under control, that was a little scary. the fire extenguisher is kept a little closser these days.
