Title: Scores from the Bob Shaw CLPA at Joe nall

Most of the second round scores are better. The wind was a little unruly early this morning. Later for the next round it straightened out and was perfect.

My 444.5 didn't get one of those beautiful laser engraved awards. I threw away a bunch of points on my ugly landings. Did some good things too though.

Sure thing, I'm happy to do it. I finally figured out if I don't get pics of all the scoreboards, neither does anyone else. I'll make sure I do it at all of the contests from now on. Unfortunately next time will be in October at the Carolina Criterium. Boy, after this exciting Spring, that's going to be a long wait. But I have enough fuel now to keep me practicing all Summer and Fall. Maybe by then I'll be showing some 480s instead of 440s and 458s, my highest two yet.

Two Summers ago, 2013, I started this, and lately was beginning to think I'd hit a wall and would never get any better. But I wasn't going to quit, it's too much fun. After my early morning practice flight, Mike Gill, the guy that gave me his busted Shoestring, which started me down this path walked across the circle to speak to me. He'd been watching me fly for the first time since then. He asked me the question; if he hadn't given it to me, would I be doing this today. No not a chance, I told him and thanked him too. He hadn't planned to give it to me that day, he only invited me to feel the pull of a 35 sized plane. It was butt-ugly yeller, and heavy as a brick. So heavy he had to use an fp40.

I'd only ever flown 1/2A, and never considered larger, much less competitive stunt. I didn't really know people seriously did it. And he didn't plan on wrecking it before I got the handle in my hand Lol... sorry, Mike. He was so disgusted, he just gave it to me... minus the tank and engine. Boy, how life changes.

Here it is today. it was broken badly, inboard wing, fuselage and the whole empennage. It had cartwheeled after a line let go. After 3 months of Winter 2013, here's the transformation. 31 ounces and a Thunder Tiger 25. Still gets out to fly now and then.
