Scientific Pitts "Lil Stinker"

Does anyone have an old Scientific Pitts Lil Stinker kit for sale or swap? Are full size patterns available? Was the Black Hawk Models Little Bipe a copy of the Scientific Pitts?

In the midst of a ton of projects why an I thinking about this model? Ok... I'm sick with this stuff........and so are every last one of you! You know I'm right!.......Thanks,Skip

                 Skip, Dan has the prints if you need them. Most of the Blackhawk versions were not designed as the originals. It was a close representation. The Scientific kits didn't offer much in full size prints. The fuse is typically to scale but the wingspans are generally shown in inches on the plan. As for the elevator, that was generally a small picture on the plane with a 1/4 = a foot. These models were generally too small in wingspan to amount to a whole lot. If maneuverability is something  your in search of, Dan has compiled a list of many that fly typically better than others.

You may be wondering why do I have an interest in this little plane with all the projects I've got going right now?
As a kid I bought one of these kits down at Todd's Model and Hobby shop in Upper Darby. I was attracted by the box art. It built into a really cute model.I loved putting on all of those decals. I don't remember much about flying it.

At present my interest is in building one and hanging it up in the corner of the shop for nostalgic reasons ,no more
BTW, your old "White Lightening" is ready for paint,everything is all squared up. Presently working on a restoration of a Thunderbird II that was beautifully built and is very light. I had to reinstall the tail that had been knocked off and install new canopy......Skip

  The Scientific Little Stinker was my first
successful C/L plane in 1967.
  I was twelve and I bought mine at the
Maas Brothers store in downtown Clearwater FL.

   The decal sheet was beautiful!

 The picture shows a replica I made about
25 years ago before the internet was a
source of information. I just had the box
art to go by.

  The Little Stinker was so important to
me at twelve that now I paint all my stunters
in red and white sunburst.

  I have the "plans" if other arrangement
don't work out.

I have almost all of the Hollow Log Scientific plans back in MI. I lent many of them out to a modeler who is on vacation right now. I can get you a copy when he returns them. The Little Stinker makes an attractive Musciano Meet Concours model, by the way. Currell

My father got me started in model airplanes with one of these when I was 5, maybe 6.   My mother thought it was named after what the glue and paint smelled like on that card table in the dining room.  First time I have seen another one.  That would have been 1952-3.  You don't keep too many memories from that age but I can remember painting those stripes and never quite getting that metal cowl to fit.  I my dad crashed on it's first flight.  Looking back, I don't think they were actually supposed to fly.   My younger brother grew up to be a test pilot and owned a Pitts back in the 80's.
